  1. Got to remember though, that in the Gallagher days, probably at least half the team would be lighting up at half time. I hear what you’re saying and we will never know anyway unless a time machine is invented.
  2. It’s so hard to really compare different generations as the game has changed so much.
  3. Yeah if you listen he has some great stories and some decent points of view. He does sometimes gets mixed up with things and that may be due to the few years of personal problems he had. Three legends were good. as they bounced off each other really well especially for the first couple of years. Seemingly a massive fall out with Eric Gates and Supermac/Slaven, which has never been resolved, put an end to it with Gates being sacked (If I remember correctly).
  4. He was an out and out goal scorer no doubt. Probably closest style of player to him currently is Vardy. Shearer was a one off and was able to adapt his game after two horrendous injuries. Think the one against Chelsea was the big one as he did lose a couple of yards of pace. However, he was still a top class player after that.
  5. Was bored so watched Supermac on Wraith’s podcast (I know), but got me wondering how much he would be worth in today’s game. I was lucky enough to see him play when I first started watching NUFC and he was a great striker. Fast, great shot and good in the air. Very arrogant though has to be said during his playing days. Had horrendous knee problems, which caused his eerily retirement and the players union paid for his surgery as he didn’t have the money to pay. He is without doubt one of the old legends for this club. He was asked about if he would ever say yes if he was offered a job at the club and he said he thought he would be too old to be considered. He’s had a very up and down life (a lot self inflicted), but seems to be doing ok now. Got me thinking the wages even average players get are crazy nowadays, especially when you see older players from past generations who were paid peanuts and living basic lifestyles.
  6. Aye the good old Westler Hamburgers, definitely the 'marmite' of burgers (I loved them by the way)
  7. I thought he was gash, but this year in general he’s shown he’s ok. He is not better than Dubravka though by a long way. Big decision for the club this Summer though as to which keeper to cash in on Darlow or Woodman. Woodman would probably bring a bigger fee, but it depends if they see him replacing Dubravka within the next year or two. Woodman is already making noises of wanting to stop at Swansea. They could stick to the same scenario as this season and let Woodman go on loan again, but with the current lack of funds being banded about (again), I can see them cashing in on one of the two this summer.
  8. I actually think if Rafa is still available and is lined up for the role, then he would be in at a drop of a hat. He knows a lot of the squad and would be a big early win for the consortium with a manager the whole club would be behind. Think Bruce would be quite happy to leave also with a nice pay off and he would still get a job in the championship.
  9. No great fan of Sheff Wed due to clashes in try the 80s, but they are what I would call a traditional club and it is a shame to see the club in such trouble. Also looks likely there going to lose several players, when I thought they would be a good bet for a quick return and making it harder for a certain other club to get out of that league.
  10. Except a certain ineffective midfielder who must have thought all his Christmas’s had come together with this news and the one that followed with the Bruce appointment. Still giving nothing on the pitch and also a first team shoe in. He’s not the only one still at the club who would certainly not there if Rafa was still here. Funny enough Atsu is one of them even though he recognised and appreciated by his comments, the forward plan in place. Mind I think Rafa would probably have got him fixed up at another club if he could not be sold, instead of having to train with the U23s all season with only a few reserve outings to his name.
  11. Got to give him credit before his injuries he was making a name for himself. He has with the support of Norwich, built his career back up again to be playing at the top level, even though he won’t be on the same level pre-injury. Also still got a lot of love for the club and fans.
  12. It is mind, Ashley thinking 12th we don’t really need to sign to finish 17th. Groundhog Day incoming again
  13. Yeah probably best they could get in terms of like-for-like replacement. Still at a decent age also and will get goals. As you say cash to spare also (you would think anyway especially with Inter’s current financial situation), so they will be able to improve in other areas.
  14. He’s ok and his heart is in the right place as he does want to see the club progress (naturally as a supporter). Noticed he has went from saying he is fully confident the takeover is happening to one of saying he’s not sure these last couple of months. Right way to go as nobody knows for sure. I mentioned last week I just wish all the people claiming to be in the know or having some supposed knowledge would just give it a rest and let the legal cases make the decisions. I just can’t see any of these ‘in the know’ voices having any effect whatsoever in either case. Nobody knows what is being presented by either side and nobody will get to know until a decision has been made. Opinions for either side winning the case carry no credence for these very reasons. Just can’t see any point of the consistent calling out, when not one person knows what is being presented within their arguments by either legal side. I woke up this morning and saw that 64 new posts had been made in the takeover thread and thought there might have been some news/updates being discussed. However, nearly every single post was a back and forth charade of who is right and who is wrong (again) based on very little apart from I’m right kids play. I can see media voices, arguments on here, Twitter, exclusives building up even more unfortunately with the current set case deadlines approaching. Just wish everyone would let it play out and wait for the legal cases to be heard. This is a general post not aimed at anyone specifically. Just sick of hearing who is right or wrong.
  15. Carr had some blinding signings for sure and some dead rubbers (you can say that about most clubs though). I’m surprised Ashley didn’t bring him back into the fold full time, though I’m sure I read last year that he was still involved in an advisory role (not heard his name mentioned this year mind). Presume the reason why Rafa wanted Carr gone as he obviously wanted full control, whilst Carr in the past had been in total control of all signings. Shame they couldn’t have worked together as Carr did bring in some decent signings as mentioned above. Carr is supposed to have a pretty stubborn and forceful presence and we know Rafa had that side also, so probably clashed quite a bit. I remember reading that Carr wasn’t impressed with some of Rafas’s choices before he left.
  16. His new Sports Direct advert would have cost him a pretty penny.
  17. Don’t think anyone doesn’t realise this though.
  18. Just seen his new advert on the tv with Cantona and several premier league stars in. Fuck me that’s one way to spend your increased profits on your business. Meanwhile at NUFC we get newly released photos of pitch work and a filthy stadium
  19. Agree with everything there, I don’t mind the green with the historical relation to the city and it’s actually my favourite colour also.
  20. Not a bad effort at all that, looks canny.
  21. I presume that just a mock up by someone?
  22. I know as I said I just can’t understand why he bought the club. The rumours were that it was for a bit of fun and a laugh. It’s quite obvious it was exactly that especially when you consider that he was out drinking and socialising with the fans, up to when the Keegan fallout. Ever since that day I’m convinced he absolutely detests the support and enjoys sticking his two fingers up (in real life also as we all seen in the photo). Also convinced that he’s more bothered with this takeover for the prospect of cashing in on his product within the Middle East, than he is of making a profit on the club and seeing it develop. The bloke is a grade ‘A’ cunt, who has sucked out any enjoyment of supporting the club.
  23. I’ve got no doubt he’s being fed by the PL and BEin to put their agenda in the media, I’ve thought that all the way through this. You don’t get information contained in a non disclosure letter unless you are. Best just to wait for the decision to be made within the legal cases. I keep saying it, but nobody can be sure, as we don’t have a clue what’s being presented on either side. We just got to hope the perspective dates are this time accurate and we can get a final conclusion to what has become a charade.
  24. Why is it when it goes to appeal (also the case with the arbitration) it goes to a selected chair by the Premier League?, especially when it is a decision by the Premier League that you appealing about. Surely it should be a totally independent authority selected. I obviously don’t know the legalities, just seems to me to open up accusations of unfairness and dare I say it possible corruption.
  25. The year when we finished 5th was the perfect time for Ashley to actually progress the club and his opportunity to move us forward. That summer’s transfer window showed to me he neither wants or requires the club to be competitive. As a businessman (and to be fair a pretty successful one) I’ve never understood his approach of not investing and keeping to his methods of buy cheap, price cheap and sell big. It obviously works in the sporting goods world, but will never work in the Premier League. He is knackered if this specific takeover does not happen as although he may have new buyers, I just can’t see anyone buying the club at the current value, when the infrastructure, the team and the facilities would require a massive investment now to move forward. Maybe he will get another mega rich investment (I doubt it), but I can currently see only a similar type of owner probably being interested. I will turn my back fully this year with him and Bruce still at the helm. I just can’t stomach one game more of these two pricks in charge.
