Dibling would be my top target for that position for a variety of reasons, talent, profile, cost, PSR etc. Would avoid Rashford at all costs. If we could stretch to a GK or a CB as well for development that would be a class Jan.

Think it’s more just a realistic position based on PSR. Swapping a back up in a position in order to drastically improve an extremely weak position in the first team is probs sensible

I would move him on if it freed up funds for RW. We have Joelinton as cover, and potentially Willock can cover there too. I do rate Barnes, but not the way we use him in the squad.

I can’t see us selling for anything less than double what we bought him for, IF we have to. Today I’m optimistic that we could add one or two in January and we could be cooking for a 4th place finish…no Europe, momentum, players coming back. Still in the early days, but you never know. So maybe we can retain him.

Midfield is a conundrum like, isn’t it. Square pegs in round holes job. I’ve said it before but I like a box midfield. Could accommodate both Joes, Sandro and Bruno in that. Isak and Barnes as two false 9s

Despite really clear examples of young players being held back by our management, only to perform when they’re eventually trusted and we are still using this as a stick to beat Howe with. Obviously recruitment is a related issue, but surely we can see that Howe’s approach to player development works

Didn’t think the performance was that bad at all. We created chances, dominated possession, never really looked like conceding. We just lacked up top. Away form doesn’t fee too bad. Goodison is not a happy place for us.

I feel so privileged to have been there for this. Just a massive beautiful celebration of what it is to be from Newcastle and to support this club. Absolutely the best night I’ve had supporting NUFC.

I think it’s all well and good saying he needs minutes to develop. Of course he does, and ultimately, if we could rely on Wilson/Isak to stay fit then maybe he would be getting minutes elsewhere, but right now he needs to be part of the squad for the benefit of the team. The issue (as ever) has been poor recruitment of key positions such as LW added to poor sales. If we had signed someone that could have improved that area and maybe been an auxiliary striker that would have been great. I’d we had also peddled Wilson when there was some value, we maybe would have more reliable options in the position that would allow young players to go out on loan. We have a long long way to go.
