If both Tino and Tonali go in summer it’ll be for big money you’d think. I think Tino is excellent but again if (big if) we can scout well and bring a replacement in, not a massive problem. Tonali going leaves us incredibly light in midfield, and that is before we look at trying to upgrade any positions. It’s a whole lot of work. We probably need the following if both the above go GK upgrade Midfielder x 2 CB RB starter RB backup LB backup Forward (Right sided) I can see the merits of not burning cash now on someone we don’t really rate at January prices with all that to do in summer.

How is anyone miserable about this game? After the season we had last season and the up and down nature of it all this season, the champions league has been a joy. 3 of those are completely irrelevant comparisons as they’ve had financial advantage over us, and have a squad full of technically gifted players to manage the demands. Arguably Villa do too, and are playing in a much less competitive European competition, and haven’t progressed in the league cup. They also don’t lose their star striker in the summer and have a pretty settled executive team, we’ve also been here before, and had less productive seasons. It happens. I do wonder which competition we should have chucked this year to focus on the league?

Watching the highlights again, we really did play pretty well at times, we were just unfortunate. If we manage to get an early goal there who knows, but can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, so I’d say we’re out.
