That's the thing , the top 4 are miles better than the rest of that league and even they would all still be bottom 6 in the premier, even as bad as we are at the minute we are still levels above the mackems .
-
It's mad what one bad result can do , if we had beaten Forest we would be sat 7th and everyone would be happy enough and looking forward to an improved second half of the season with less injuries and games .
-
I think this is probably the least I have cared about any Newcastle match since the takeover , just get it out the way take a defeat and focus on January .
-
Oh I didn't know that , ignore everything I said then .
-
Is an argument for this season being a write off anyway and keeping all of our money for the summer . We can still finish 7th or 8th with the current squad and realistically we aren't going to finish top 4 whoever we go out and buy.
-
Play the likes of Ritchie and the rest of the reserves , keep our best players for the derby .
-
Didn't want Phillips initially but having see how bad we have been recently he surely improves our midfield .
-
He's not even an upgrade on Pope either , if we are spending big money on a goalie it needs to be one who is going to be our number one for years .
-
Anyone wanting Eddie out now or even if we lost to the mackems deserves to have Bruce and Ashley back .
-
Know a lot of season ticket holders that didn't go today due to a combination of being away for Christmas , early kick off on Boxing Day etc and passed the ticket on , wonder if that's why the atmosphere was so bad .
-
Imagine Liverpool fans saying if they lost to Everton they would want Klopp sacked , it's embarrassing really is .
-
Seem to remember a Bournemouth fan on here saying one of his flaws was being loyal to players that were clearly out of form and should be nowhere near the starting line up ,we are all seeing that first hand now with the likes of Trippier , Burn , Longstaff etc .
-
Footballers in general will always go where the money is , them lads at Liverpool won't get much more money anywhere else than they currently get , the whole I want to play champions league football thing works for them as the teams in the champions league usually pay the best money . If a top class footballer really wanted to play champions league football every season they could go play for say Celtic or the likes , they won't do it because them teams don't pay the most money .
-
He needs to be a squad player and not playing every week , same with Longstaff, they are good squad players for a top 6/7 team but shouldn't be playing every week if we want to progress further.
-
Think we will win this one comfortably but I reckon it will be the last time we win a league game until February .
-
I can't think of a single ground in the league where the atmosphere is consistently top class , it's just the way the modern day football fan is now.
-
It's not even playing it down , giant killings happen especially in cups , so if we do get beat it's not a reason to start questioning Eddie although looking at the way some of our so called fans go in it will no doubt happen, we have lost to worse teams than Sunderland since Eddie came in.
-
I agree about the last week, going out the champions league and league cup has meant we need to change priorities but before that we had people saying Sunderland was our biggest game of the season which was absolute nonsense .
-
It's been so long since we played them because they aren't even good enough to play in our league though .We should have bigger priorities now than beating a mid table championship club really with the investment we have had . Imagine say Liverpool fans saying a game against Tranmere was a priority for them because they hadn't played them for years .
-
Well we will likely get one point at most from them two games but had we got through to the semis of the league cup I would have happily made that the priority in January over the mackem game .
-
Not on board with this match being billed as the biggest game of the season , imagine Liverpool fans saying a game against Everton was the biggest game they had all season, it would just never happen. it's the mackems and we all hate them but they are a mid table championship club. A week ago I would have been happy beating Milan and Chelsea if it meant losing to these . It's a cup final for them and not us and it should certainly have no bearing at all on how Eddie is looked upon going forward
-
Having watched Villa a few times this season I think you are very similar to us , excellent at home and not so great away from home , the difference is you do seem to be able to get results away from home even when you don't play that well like against Brentford , Spurs and Bournemouth . We did the same last season but haven't been able to this season and it just shows the difference it makes.
-
We have the biggest difference in the entire league when it comes to home points and away points . Injuries etc have obviously played a big part in that but I would be more confident of beating Arsenal at home on Saturday than I am of us winning at Luton, we are just complete polar opposites home and away and it is something that does need to be addressed .
-
Genuinely looked ill last night , like he hadn't slept in a month or something , should be nowhere near the first team really if he's got stuff going on in the background that is clearly affecting him.
-
I never criticise Eddie but that was a total clusterfuck of decisions tonight , sitting so deep and inviting pressure against a team as average as Chelsea , leaving Gordon on when he was clearly fucked and could hardly run , letting Trippier take a penalty when he is clearly shot to bits, bringing on Ritchie ahead of Lewis , totally bizarre decisions that have ultimately cost us .
