Seems like they are accepted, because otherwise Ten Hag would be on his way. The football ManU play at the moment is miles away from top4 teams.
-
Dont really get the point that Newcastle finished 4th. Yes, but 3 big teams had a truly shit season and Newcastle was not suffering from Europe. Manchester United is the most successful team in the last 20 years in England, has spent billions in players in last 10 years, and are commercially in totally different league. ManU fans have really lowered their expectations when home losses to Galatasaray, Newcastle and Crystal Palace seem to be accepted these days.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
KingArthur replied to Rich's topic in Football
Rashford has been playing there though isnt he? And now you say he is not a striker, but he is a lot better striker than Ben Parkinson. And I rather put Rashford as a striker than Paul Dummett or Emil Krafth as centrebacks. You have had a lot in injuries, but your squad is vastly bigger and more expensive. -

Our entire attack has been out. I mean, we have no attackers on the bench. Most likely your second choice defence was still more expensive then our starting defence.. -
They have been better. We are so tired that is was a matter of time.
-
Disagree. Joelinton is the only one physical enough to play up top. We need to hold the ball for a while, and not just lose it all the time. Cannot play behind them cause when we break we are way too deep.
-
Yea, I know Howe's style requires certain type of players. Still, players like Mbappe (of course not as good) are something we need. Intensity doesn't matter if you are constantly losing the ball against top quality opposition and it doesn't matter if you are playing against very organized, world class defense that sits deep. We have seen this against Liverpool and Dortmund at home (a bit unlucky we did not score though they could have scored more) and yesterday. I know injuries are making us a lot worse, but even with our full squad, we are not top top quality European side, like PSG, Dortmund or Milan yet. And it is fine to admit it. We will get there, but we just started this journey. We can have some great results, but in overall play, we have a lot of work to do be top class. We might still qualify, which would be great result. I still think we got to UCL few years too early to really give it a go.
-
Yea, we won that game nicely. And we won taken few nice wins in the league against big teams. We were awful against Milan and had 1 or maybe 1,5 good chances yesterday, when we desperately needed a win. I mean that our squad is thin and still we are not creating a lot. If you took out best XI, how many players from there would Dortmund or PSG swap for theirs? If you look at the teams from yesterday, how many our players would they take? We are quite clearly underdogs in this group. And it is fine to admit it. Less than 2 years ago we were fighting relegation, of course our team is not good enough. It takes 4-5 years easily.

Sadly I think these games show why we need to upgrade on players like Almiron, Longstaff, Willock and Joelinton (as up top). They just don't offer enough goal threat. Lots of hard work yes, but that is the bare minimum when you don't have the skill set to score or create. Then you run until you cannot anymore. Miggy does that better than anyone, but I just don't want to see him on the pitch when we are needing a goal. These players are good to have in rotation, but when you compare our wide players to other team's wide players in this group... We need players in midfield who can shoot from distance, wingers who can go past their man 1v1 (not saying we need Maxi, but still someone like him) and we need striker who can create opportunities for himself or hold up the ball better than Wilson. But we all knew our squad is nowhere near CL material yet.
-
He played well. Not his fault we don't have UCL-quality striker or wingers fit.
-
They got beat by maybe the best team in Europe Wake up man. We are missing so many key players and even with full squad we are not as good as Dortmund. People should just accept that. Not many of our players get in to that team.
-
We have tried, but to be honest, this is a top European side. We are not there yet. They have few German Internationals, and damn tough team otherwise too. No shame in this. We just don't have enough quality up top. edit. We cannot manage with these injuries. UEL-place still up for grabs.

Romero has to change. He has been lucky few times already, and trying to act like a tough guy just don't work.

This is right I think

Van de Ven down. What a luck for Spurs.

Newcastle United 1-0 Arsenal (04/11/23) - Post match reaction from p. 46

From what I see, front foot scratches Longstaff's shin, split second later and it is a straight contact and a leg break. -

Clear red to be honest. Nowhere near the ball. -

Sadly Arsenal is much better with the ball, and we have to do a lot chasing. With all these games and our injuries cannot see how we hold them. -
Surely we are not after left footed Cb? No way.

Who would you bring? Willock and Gordon are dead

LCR4: Manchester United vs. Newcastle United - 01/11/23 @ 20:15 (Sky Sports)
KingArthur replied to 54's topic in Football
Dummett surely for Schär? He really needs a rest, we cannot afford to lose him if Sven is out for long. Livramento for Trippier, Targett for Burn. Otherwise cannot see a lot of changes. -
This is so frustrating. He tries to buy fouls by shielding and then going to ground. And when he doesn't get the foul, we are often so open on the counter. Just move the ball for fuck sake.

Then the question is, why did some of your players push up to press, when the back 4 couldn't follow? Ten Hag doesn't have a control of his team? -

To be honest, Sky Sports studio also said they have no idea what ManU are trying to do. And it has been over a year. You can't press with Maguire and Evans at cb. -
Yea, it is obvious, but now that he has started to play better, we are starting to get a grip of games. Of course we are now playing against easier teams than in the start.
