I get your point, and yes we don’t exactly have a talented crop of English options available. However if we want the possibility of quick success with an appointment like Tuchel then it’s important to drop the ego and make the best choice for the side, regardless of his nationality.
-
Only England could go from a potential Lee Carsley appointment to Thomas Tuchel, and then have the fans twist that he was born in the wrong country.
-
That’s a stretch although I’d agree to an extent. Toxic doesn’t necessarily mean no patience is involved, but im specifically referring to the toxic relationship with your ownership.
-
They’ve just given a pretty toxic fanbase one of the biggest sticks possible to beat them with
-
Bet he can’t wait to work with Ashworth again
-
I’m confused, that’s a really bizarre comparison
-
Tuchel would have so many more attractive offers if he’s patient

Don’t let the media mind fuck you over this, after last night Howe to England was free clicks.

Yeah, agreed. That’s not his game. We lose so much passing progression on our right hand side without Trippier, Livra is defensively solid but he’s not a technically natural attacking full back. We arnt deploying a full bore press anymore so technical and creative quality in wide areas is more important than before, we are just lacking in this regard especially without Trippier. Luckily Hall is progressive on the other side. I’ve mentioned it before, but you get the most out of players like Tonali and Livramento in a press. Two players that seemed to be signed for the style that we don’t seem to want to use anymore.. not saying we can’t still get very good use out of these players because we are able to adapt and will do so.

Yeah, I’m kind of with you. Although like I said I wouldn’t completely write him off, this kind of appointment is risky but he’s worked with and is popular with a lot of these players. It does have potential.
-
Working within the England set up for years and seeing alot of this current squad of players through isn’t necessarily a negative.. Im not saying he’s the man, im just saying writing him off completely is probably a bit short sighted. It wouldn’t be out of form for the FA to appoint him tbh.
-
That’ll probably be that for Carsley but should be given a real chance imo. He took a big risk and picked an unbalanced team tonight, almost felt like fan service to try and fit those attacking players in one team.

Don’t waste your time Same was said about Gallagher

Klopp is a red bull guy

He and Pep have been together there and at Barca, I think Begiristain was actually a big reason Pep got the Barca job in the first place. He was the one who pushed for it when others weren’t keen and has had a massive part in signing key players. Could mean Pep’s time at City is coming to a close.

Yeah Isak at #10 is a non starter, unless you are talking about the odd game. It’s madness to play him anywhere but central striker with our current squad either way.
-
Some people were actually content with taking a point deduction, so yeah..

Sloppy game so far, which suits Man United.

I used to make the argument that we were building a team specifically for the press, so players we targeted had to be physically able to do that. Our identity has since changed though, and I now agree with you. A creative midfielder ahead of Bruno could have unlocked Everton for us last night, our signings have all been made to press but we are not doing that by design now. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. We don’t have the technical or creative ability in the front of 2 of a 433 midfield to make the difference against stubborn low blocks. Teams like Everton can be relatively comfy playing us because the threat just isn’t there. If we are moving our style on to a more possession based system that is one thing, but we don’t have the personnel to evolve it yet. I think the injuries of last season pushed our evolution along to quickly, as Howe spoke of adapting and evolving and probably feels the intensity of the press we used before was becoming to much of a risk to our current squads fitness. We essentially built a squad for a style we don’t seem to want to implement now.

Ten Hag starting Maguire and Evans is so bizarre. Did he watch the Bayern game the other night? They left Upemecano 1v1 with Watkins and the pace was killing them.. so he starts Man Uniteds two slowest CBs here? I think he’s losing the plot.
-
I do agree with you that at times it does feel he’s overly cautious, I wanted to see more of Gordon when he signed for example. Im not sure we are there with Osula yet though, and I do think he’ll start using him sooner rather than later. Wilson will come back and likely be re injured before long so Osula will get his minutes.

I’ll trust Howes judgment on him, he sees him day in day out in training and clearly feels the lad isn’t ready. I think Howe plays the mental game with the young players pretty well, he eases them in gradually. I think people tend to forget there’s alot of pressure on players this club, a lot more than Sheffield United anyway. Some young players take time to adapt to that.

He’ll be fucking gutted that he didn’t score that pen

We also lost possession cheaply a lot, the rest of what you mentioned should be expected of a side that is allowed to play with the ball. It’s really nothing of note. We are by no means abysmal, but at the same time not good enough away to reasonably expect a top 6 finish which will disappoint most people on here. I tend not to focus on results or points, performances are what matter most and we just are not there right now.
