  1. the club will just take loans/overdraft for short term cash needs like transfer fees. if they are equity funding they don’t need to do that at the same moment they are writing transfer cheques. also due to when the tv money is paid, and the season ticket renewal dates clubs tend to be pretty flush this time of year so I don’t think cash flow will be a factor
  2. it would be a massive coup to get him - also feels unlikely as he walks into most CL teams and at his age he may not want to sign up to a longer term project. but if he can be brought in suddenly looking at challenging for 5th instead of 7th (which sounds minor until you look at the difference in points that requires)
  3. Kompany and Zableta were both bought pre Mansour, City had started to spend heavily pre their 2nd takeover although they bought a lot of rubbish. shows the impact of FFP - can’t afford to have a load of flops now, to progress almost every signing has to come off. city bought about 3 big money strikers a year for years until aguerro - simply not possible anymore
  4. Sterling misses a lot of chances - but his great skill is being in the right place to have the chance
  5. Jesus could get 20+ a season for Arsenal but right now not sure he’d get the right service at Newcastle. Don’t yet have the midfield and forward line to create the chances Jesus thrives on, and he does not bring the hold up play and physicality still needed through the middle so might get shunted out wide. if he’d come would sign him up in a heartbeat as on 5 year contract by years 2 or 3 we’d be in business, but from his perspective he’d have an instant shot at golden boot at Arsenal
  6. The team lacks goals, so a RW/RF who can contribute 10+ a season is essential if the team Is to push on. Given the lack of cover for ASM and Wilson another player who can play across the front 3 and carries a goal threat is also needed to provide competition and mean there’s some cover. ekitike is presumably one of these players. The possession stats have been dire but a lot of that has been down to the fullbacks being so poor, esp LB - something that has already been dealt with. I think the plan will be LB (done), RF and CF plus one of either CB or CM this summer. If Botman signs it’s the CB. however, that said, if the club feel there’s a bargain or a player with potential to be at the club for 5 years in any position available at a good price they will take the opportunity. I think that’s what the Henderson bid was about - not especially after a goalkeeper but for 25m felt worthwhile. As it couldn’t be done at the right price the club have walked away and may not look at GK for another year.
  7. Are people not expecting a European place next season? Finished 7 points off a EC place this year, with no wins from the first 14 games. The current squad for a full season could have made it. I don’t think it’s nailed on by any means as Leicester and Villa will improve on last season -Leicester couldn’t really handle the volume of games last year, Villa are improving. But with decent summer transfers EC qualification should be the target, I don’t think they’re pumping 100m in to try and finish 9th
  8. I think we are after a right forward rather than a right winger - someone who carries a goal threat rather than just a creator. That will give the team more balance and mean not relying on the central striker for goals.
  9. players will be looking at what will be achieved during the 4 year horizon of their contracts, not the 5-10 year timeframe it will take to transform the club
  10. Depends how good they were at their peak! I’d have taken many past it players over peak Jeff Hendrick
  11. Bemused why some fans are so keen to sell the best players; ASM, Wilson, Dubs, Lascelles have all had people saying time to cash in. The old adage is pretty true; never sell your best players. imo none of the starters from the last season should be sold as there’s is a total absence of depth in the squad. The players to shift are the ones who couldn’t get a game
  12. I’m sure he isn’t doing any work for us, as that would be a breach of contract and he could be sued- but Brighton aren’t the FBI, they are not monitoring his phone calls or reading his emails! presume he isn’t daft so he’s probably enjoying 6 months off work with full pay, like any normal person would
  13. The issue isn’t Dubs it’s the people behind him. A better back up is essential, so we’ll definitely be after a GK this summer and Any new signing should be providing competition for the starting slot That tweet sums it up - no clean sheets without him.
  14. Newcastle should hope Everton get away with it, don’t want the rules being enforced too harshly
  15. Whenever Dubs is injured we have a massive drop off in quality at GK, it has cost us points the last few seasons. A new keeper as a reserve at a minimum is a must, if Henderson can also provide competition for the starting slot great.
  16. Be mad to be looking to shift one of the best players given the amount of work the squad needs.
  17. Without Jones joining last season the club could well be in the championship, the England roles alone show he can work at the top. I imagine Howe will want to keep him around and if anything be growing the coaching staff.
