Do concur there could/should be a decent amount to spend in the Summer. Especially if we get CL. But even then I think they'll be wanting to bring in a RW, CB, and potentially GK all at the level to go straight in if needed. Even being canny and filling some of those roles with cheaper European options is still likely going to be close to 100m.

I don't think our PSR situation allows for the luxury of signing both an established and up and comming RW in the Summer. At least not for the fee involved for Dibling (likely 40m+). Think if we get CL we will go for someone like Mbeumo (finished article), think if it's Europa or below it will be someone like Dibling, who can grow into the role.
-
Not being a dick, but interested to see who you think is it if it's not him? There's no one playing that inside forward off the right role better in the PL at the moment. I don't think we will get him, at least not in Jan, but he certainly must be near the top of the list.
-
Don't want to be chief chip pisser, but really don't think we are making any moves in Jan. Only way I can see that changing is if Isak gets injured.
-
Especially enjoyed the "you've seen United, now fuck off home" chant once it went to 2-1. You've been outplayed by the worst team in the league for 80mins...
-
Feel like if we get CL it will be Mbuemo. If it's Europa or Conference it will instead be a young'un like Dibling/some young kid from abroad.
-
I hear it's exactly that easy as well...

For him to be drawn to the Chelsea cash in the Summer, only to end up at a team below us, Chelsea, and Fulham by Jan would be pretty funny.

Gordon played under Ancelotti and Rafa at Everton...

Problem is is this wouldn't really solve anything for anyone. That's not a big enough increase to satiate the current demand. And only extending the Gallowgate wouldn't let them do what they'd need to in terms of corperate. I would share your concerns about some random bowl 5-10 miles outside the city. But I honestly that's not going to happen. Anywhere inside the city, especially Leazes Park and I'd say there's no real risk to any sort of 'identity' loss.

I really don't know where the 'Lloyd Kelly is on 150k p/w' thing came from. Always seemed pretty obvious that that was ridiculous.
-
By all accounts pretty great in terms of the money the generate on match days, and can therefore spend in transfer windows. If you want to talk about the choices they make in terms of signing players and managers that's a different, unrelated, conversation.

Gordon's last half season at Everton before moving in Jan: Games: 16 Goals: 3 Assists: 0 Elanga this season so far: Games: 21 Goals: 3 Assists: 5 And those numbers actually undersell Elanga, who is way more integral to how Forest play compared to Gordon at Everton. Don't think it's being crazy to suggest that with 18+ months of Howe Elanga could be producing in a similar way to Gordon. In terms of goal involvements this season he isn't far off already.
-
I know this is has been said to death now... but people said the same (and worse) about Gordon. Honestly think Elanga is better/more effective now than Gordon was when we signed him from Everton.
-
Yep. Plus with any player, especially in attacking areas, you have to take into account the 'Howe' (and staff tbf) effect. Take how good he is now, accept that it will likely take at least half a season for them to a regular, but that when they get to that stage there will likely be a marked in improvement on the player they were when they came in.
-
Past few years it's been "if you stay still you're actually moving backwards" in the PL. We're rapidly approaching the point where it's "if you're improving you better be doing it at at least the pace of others or you're getting left behind." As long as FFP/PSR are the reality then anyone who's taking the big strides to improve their matchday/events income will, in time, move past us if we don't. For better in worse, within 5-10 years the PL will likely be comprised on 20 teams with these money making machines of stadiums like Spurs etc. The quicker we get to that point, the quicker we can unlock the potential that comes with the sheer wealth of our principle owners. I do concur it's not an easy dilema to solve, the history and fanbase of this club imparticular can sometimes make this sort of heartstring stuff harder than it would be for another club. You think a Bournemouth fan is going to twist at the idea of leaving the Vitality for a 40k stadium which, thanks to it being more modern/having more corporate, will likely generate more than a 52k SJP does on a matchday?
-
Maybe he is here for depth, but it's a bit daft to say he looks 'Championship at best' when he has been playing pretty well at PL level for the past couple seasons. Are there any teams (City aside) who look just as strong when a squad player comes in to cover for an injury?
-
Signing players from the SPL is always risky. Take out Celtic and Rangers and the quality level is lower table Championship at best.

This speaks to just how easy pro's make things we consider 'standard' look. Up to and including 'kicking ball far'. Get on a regular side footy pitch, go the to the six yard box and try and kick the ball so it travels through the air and lands midway inside the other half without bouncing. Even that isn't as easy as it seems like it should be to mere mortals.

If Dubravka does end up staying the next logical question is.. do people think he will keep Pope out of the team when he comes back? I have to admit, if he doesn't it seems pretty short sighted to keep hold of him for the sake of what, maybe one more league game.
-
Found this to be the case with the Adidas tops. Still had PTSD from the Castore days where, despite wearing a L in t-shirts/shirts I had to squeeze into an XL. Got the XL home top this season and it's like a tent. Least I can wear it in a hoody now it's winter.
-
Pretty sure there will be two kits you haven't seen before, and one throwback. Same as this sesaon...
-
Think we end up signing one of these (Kelleher or Trafford), probably in the Summer. Think if it's Trafford then Pope will likely stay number 1 for another season with Trafford being phased in slowly. If it's Kelleher time will likely be up for Pope, he is only going somewhere he gets to be number 1. Just for the team to determine if Trafford's ceiling if higher than Kelleher, who is definitely the better keeper at the moment.

Or £108 for Shearer 9 or Ginola 14 on the back.
