  1. Should be yeah, I think the winners of National League North (hopefully us) and National League South go up.
  2. Wasn't there someone here saying the youngest is the best of the lot?
  3. We made three big singings in the summer - two have hardly played and the third already looks class. As for "we didn't need a left winger", I think we really could have done with a (fit) left winger over the past couple of months...
  4. They definitely do - it is/was one of the charges against Man City, paying Pellegrini (and others?) via various other companies/sponsors.
  5. Depends what motivates him. If it's stature then yes, Man Utd is going to appeal in the same way that coming here from Brighton would. If what attracted him to us was a blank canvas to work with he probably isn't going to get that at Man Utd. We'll find out soon enough because he is bound to be one of their top targets.
  6. Would be quite annoying if he left so soon after we waited through months of "gardening leave" before he joined. Having said that, there's nothing of any substance in the article.
  7. We were, but he's since signed a new contract there I think
  8. Reckon someone has stitched him (or his source) up?
  9. So do I but I'm not missing an opportunity to have a dig
  10. Not bothered about human rights abuses...until it involves NUFC Not bothered about the environment...until it involves NUFC There is no wrong they won't stand against. As long as it involves NUFC.
  11. I don't see why they just can't have a sea of red-and-white with a banner/surfer adorned with all the SAFC legends? You've got Kevin Phillips...erm...Pickford?...actually I can see why they went with Sports Washing...
  12. All I can remember about Beale is that he got a lot of the credit for any success Gerrard had at Rangers and possibly Villa. Can't say I followed the results of QPR or Rangers.
  13. So Betis are out and Roma & Freiberg will play one of the 3rd place CL teams I think.
  14. Barnes is pretty two-footed
  15. Some CL income estimates there. Suggests a minimum for us of about £27m. I'm not sure how the gate receipts are calculated but even 50,000 paying £60 each is another £3m per home game. If those numbers are right we're not far off £40m in total.
  16. I don't mind it at all tbf You get plenty of complaints on here about the same old songs, or no songs at all, being sung so anything that catches on I'm happy to go with.
  17. I thought the atmosphere was great, although I was in the East stand about two seats away from the standing section. It went a bit flat after their second and there was a short stunned silence after Almiron missed that chance early on but apart from that it was pretty consistent I thought. First experience of the (new?) Joelinton chant too, "£40m down the drain, Joelinton scores again"
  18. We'd get 5 points for reaching the next round of the CL, then you get 1 point for each round you go beyond that. The KO rounds of the EL is just 1 point per round. In both cases you get 2 points extra for a win or 1 for a draw. Someone can take the maths from there I'm sure edit - source is HERE
  19. I understand that qualifying consistently for the Champions League massively increases our profile, our ability to attract quality players and our chances of winning multiple trophies down the line...but... I'm 35 so I've seen us play in the Champions League, I've seen some wonderful players in my beloved black and white, but I've never seen us win anything remotely meaningful. Bag the FA Cup and even if we do nothing of note again I've seen all I'd ever need to see as a football fan.
  20. You think - as long as he's knocked the gambling on the head - even if they did decide to ban him he'd be covered by "time served" Toney got 8 months so if Tonali has served 10 then it seems a bit unreasonable to extend it further, provided he's not continued doing it.
  21. It does look pretty dodgy - they've posted a screenshot of an invoice for something costing £14.5k plus £500 transaction fees from the fundraising website. So why were they asking for £17k?
  22. Yeah but tomorrow's game has absolutely no bearing on our chances of winning a domestic cup? It's not like the Fulham game is a semi-final and we have to decide who plays which game.
  23. Even if it's the keeper we see as our #1 for the next 10 years? We spent £40m on Livramento who, injuries aside, was initially going to be Trippier's understudy.
  24. We've shown with Gordon, Livramento and others that if a deal can be done at a price we like we'll do it, even if it means going 6 months early.
  25. Didn't need to go to the expense I guess. If they have a mate who's happy to pay his however many hundred quid for all the home games, they'll pay for (and go to) all or most of the away games. I do have sympathy but there is obviously an element of playing the system and that ultimately coming back to bite. Arguments about the effect on the atmosphere aside, that they were working the system is undeniable.
