Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
rebelrouser replied to joeyt's topic in Football
10 appearances 260 minutes. He's only had a minor hamstring injury that had him out a few weeks. Seems like Anderson out on loan, new CM in, and Shelvey out in the summer would be the plan. -
I think you mean no Newcastle clause.

Our biggest needs are someone to cover for ASM and Miggy, a midfielder, and cover for Trippier. Signing a forward means they are behind ASM and Miggy and won't transform the team much unless there is an injury. rb for trippier isn't going to play much. a midfielder could plug in right away and Joelinton, Tielemans, Bruno > Joelinton, Longstaff, Bruno and it also solves an injury problem. If Shelvey starts two more times, he triggers his next year's contract. While he has been with the club for a long time, he just cannot be in the long term plans for a championship seeking club. It is possible to buy a forward that puts ASM or Miggy on the bench but how much would that tranform the team? I think the much bigger gap lies between Tielemans and Longstaff (or Willock if you like). We simply don't need Shelvey next season. Would really love to see two bargain purchases: Tielemans in the midfield and Cody Dramah as cover for Trippier. Both players want out and both clubs risk running down those contracts.

Shelvey out before Longstaff.
-
We need to improve over him but Shelvey should be the first midfielder to go. Once we replace him, Longstaff will be a bench player.
-
£110,000 week Chelsea salary.
-
Would be nice if it allows us to not trigger Shelvey's contract clause and finally be rid of him this summer. His salary is not too bad and he is about the same age as Shelvey so would not add much in terms of wages and age to the squad.
-
Don't forget Tielemans. He is out of contract this summer and would be cheap. Arsenal trying to get him in.

That's the problem. March will see Liverpool with an abundance of similar players in the front line looking for minutes. Seems like Gakpo might have been better suited to play the left wing for NUFC especially at that price (with some cover at striker and right wing too). ManU fans saying they need a true striker not a left wing. Some truth to that i think. Liverpool front line crowded with needs in their midfield. I think we are going to be conservative in this window meaning no big purchases; just some cover.
-
We just set a club record with a new striker purchase. Seems wasteful to buy another unless it is someone who can handle the wings too. We already engaged in a panic buy with Wood and to some extent Isaak. I am hoping that Isaak is not injury prone, but he is closing in on 100 days of being out. I am not sure what the plan would be if Trippier went down. Manquillo or Kraft? Wing seems like the winter purchase best designed to help us stay top four.

Alexander Isak: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)
rebelrouser replied to Disco's topic in Football
2022 is almost over and Wood has missed 11 days with an injury. Isaak has missed 95 days; Callum Wilson has missed 165 days; and Saint-Maximin has missed 76 days. -
Moroccans are the hot item and Transfemarkt is horribly outdated. Are Leicester looking to move Tielmans and/or Maddison?
-
We could sign Azzedine Ounahi, Marcus Thuram, and Harrison Ashby for well under £15M.
-
Must be wrong This sounds more likely
-
agreed, but he is under contract through 2026 and on £378,445 a week in wages.

The shirts that look like American "football" or basketball referees or Foot Locker shoe store employees? Don't forget Joe Biden promised to make KSA a "pariah." Newcastle is never going to be a big team in America.
-
He seems to have a big ego because of his position on the USMNT. Not getting along w/ Tuchel is one thing (Mirror), but Potter doesn't seem to rate him either. If we sign him and he sits behind ASM, Miggy, Wilson, Isak, how long until the complaints start? I suppose using him as attacking midfielder might solve his playing time requirements. Not worth the risk.
-
I love his motor if not his touch but doesn't he play on the left where we already have Burn and Targett (not getting time). We should be set there. I don't see the value.
-
Fraser leaving suggests we are going to add a quality forward (that can play across the front three i hope) this window.

£41,800 per week. Spotrac

No thank you.
