So does Gordon.
-
Really needs Almirons stats before Howe waved his wand.

Chatting on a football Discord, I have a guy tell me that Howe is using a park the bus style tactic albeit very successful. He also thinks we start with defensive players, and then bring Isak and ASM on in the hop we pinch a goal. Where is this stuff coming from? Yes I see the shithousery part of things, but in my head park the bus has always been everyone sat back hoping for that one counter goal to just shut up shop again. Is that really us, with a 22+ GD and without even checking I'd imagine around an average of 60% possession. So we just pass it around at the back all game?

The same reason Sunderland have just taken one of their youngsters, Moyes isn't giving them a chance.
-
Don't know if this has made it onto here yet.

Isak and Antony are being used in the same sentence? Yeh I'm out.

Definitely a good few toon fans in the home crowd, saw one or two get thrown out. Made it to the end myself, really struggled not to celebrate the goal! Had a nice seat and good chat, but don't think it's something I would do again, just a one off as it was a semi final. Looking over to see the people I should be sat with going nuts wasn't fun, but I was smiling inside. Even had a short chat with Longstaff at the end as he knew the family in front of me so came right over. Asked for his top but he said he wasn't allowed for some reason.

I'm no Gordon fan but the logic of he scored only x goals last season really doesn't work. You can apply the same to Almiron, and a bunch of our players we thought weren't good enough In terms of our playstyle it's hard to say Gordon wouldn't be an improvement over ASM if we were to play him LW for the pressing alone. Which could have a knock on effect down the left hand side, we could play with a more attacking LB if we knew the LW would track back.

One of the comments is "Paul Scholes likes this."

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
BonesJones replied to Rich's topic in Football
So currently the team in 5th has conceded 31 goals to our 11. You have to go down to 13th to find a team that's conceded more. I think that's a significant sign of where we're at. Our defence is unquestionably great, Arsenal and Man City can both say their attack is great. No other team can say either of those things. Champions league games are about to kick off again. Everything IS in our favour, apart from squad depth annoyingly. I say we do it! -

Apologies in advance for multiple images, but this is our biggest worry for top 4. Our bench is absolutely shocking, this is the top 5 teams benches from their most recent games. Soon as it gets late in the game and legs are tired we have two players that can come on and have a big impact, the rest of them literally make us change the way play as nothing else is possible. Can't wait to see a few south american wonderkids and all round quality from the subs. -
ASM Isak Almiron To start vs Southampton

When you click the link to where he is, it's the one near the airport. Just have to wait and see what happens. Love this type of signing so finger crossed.

Wednesday 21st January 1976 Newcastle reach the League Cup final for the first time with a great 3 - 1 win over Tottenham (3 - 2 on aggregate) at SJP before a packed crowd of 49,802. Alan Gowling, Glen Keeley and Geoff Nulty score the goals, but a late goal from Spurs make the crowd suffer before the final whistle. Manchester City beat Middlesbrough that same night, so it will not be and all north-east final. Typed up on the toilet while reading my on this day book.

Is he saying if it was a winter move specifically he'd only go to one of those four? Or is he saying I'm good enough for those 4 clubs and their all I want, otherwise monchengladbach for life!

Tends to happen when the mast goes up.

It's a fucking joke now. At least nobody can talk about us and money while Chelsea are doing this. Can't say I like it, basically going nuts with a financial takeover on football manager. No champions league, and quite possibly no Europe at all. Just don't see this working out for them. With the length of contracts these players are signing, surely if they flop and need to be moved on won't their transfer value be stupidly high when they have 6 years left on their contract so nobody buys? Hope it fucks them over big time in all honesty, less competition for top 4.

Thought this might be an interesting thing to post here. Difference in CL and other comps is big, plus the increased sponsorships would be the biggest earner for us most likely. -
Think the idea behind Wood wasn't to directly head the ball to anyone, more that we had a team good at winning second balls. How often we won second balls might be the stat to look at. I'm in the he was overpriced but helped the team in some way to avoid relegation camp.

Grandmother fancied the pants off Shearer, showed me him playing, Blackburn at the time, 95/96 i think just before he moved. Which obviously eventually led me to the greatest club I could've hoped to support. No connection to Newcastle whatsoever. Other clubs seem boring in comparison. Ours is like a story, always something to talk about good or bad we never know what the toon has in store for us haha.

Wasn't able to get an away ticket for this, however Southamptons efforts at stopping away fans getting in the home end has failed, as I was registered on their site way before their cutoff. They've gone to general sale and there is so many tickets not sold yet. I can just pick to sit pretty much anywhere.

Dont know about anyone else but as much as I love reading everyones thoughts, when I open this thread I only want to see one thing.
