  1. Give me tracking back sir and you can keep your match winning wonder goals out of nothing
  2. its an Achillies Paradox. Whilst ourselves, Villa etc. take a step in that direction, because they can say 'were established, and they've been cut off at the knees' their sponsorship ought to be bigger than ours and the gap widened. Behind the scenes I bet they cant believe they've got away with it.
  3. Its such a swizz. I'd feel like a thief in the night if Hall or Shepherd pushed for this and got it when we were ensconched in the top 4 nevermind 6. Good point made earlier about sponsorship, clubs cant sell potential anymore limiting what they may receieve, further entrenching things. Protecting clubs from financial problems and ensuring no clubs can overhaul the now self appointed elites shouldn't be mutually exclusive. It basically ends even the fantasy of a Jack Walker which has been the hope for almost any set of fans to improve their lot. Brighton and Brentford are cited as models but the Brighton's and Brentford's of the past (Leicester, Norwich, Boro) didn't sustain their purple patch. Man City and Chelsea did.
  4. First time Cantona's gone for a song since Howard Wilkinson decided to sell him to Leeds bitter rivals for a third of what he'd pay for Brian Deane half a year later
  5. Don't like the idea of all time tables having in brackets by the clubs how many points they've been deducted so as to make sense of the wins/draws not totting up to the points correctly. May as well open another table like goal-difference. Suppose its worth messing with things like that so Spurs and the reds have an easy life though.
  6. 5th - to June 2007 1) Man United (1232pts) 2) Arsenal (1081) 3) Chelsea (1013), 4) Liverpool (999) 5) Newcastle (829 (1 season less)) Man City 471, Boro 456, mackems 229 fancy that
  7. That's the way to do it. Stay up a few seasons at others expense because you broke regulations and take a small points deductions a few years later when it doesn't matter. Food for thought
  8. Sheffield United - Chelsea was delayed for a local half-marathon. Which would be better TV.

    Yankuba Minteh

He'd be getting plenty of minutes now without Europe. Unless we seriously strengthen and reconfigure the squad no loan out for me. Need more than two forwards, even if one is fringe at present.
  10. They're so lucky Man United. Against any other club it has me bileful but when its against Liverpool I almost always sort of get off on it.
  11. Yes if you're Spanish. Got the little mark above the E doesn't it.
  12. Thought that with our goal yesterday. Classic Longstaff chance.
  13. Rules of the sport (coefficients, FMV, FFP) further advantage the already massively advantaged and call it 'maintaining competitiveness'
  14. The stadium of bud light? Neh that's terrible.

    Dogawful Officiating

Its that VAR still just comes down to the subjective desire of the officials on the day to disallow a goal. Can find a reason to disallow most if you really want to.
  16. Wow. Was the first time I remember it getting gnarly under Ossie on the fourth. Pardew SJP contributions beginning as they meant to go on. Trust us to pick the one game Rob Lee didn't score against us at SJP in
  17. Has to be Rob Lee then? Lass I was mates with had her birthday read out at half-time that game. Cursing c**t
  18. From my first season (88/89) think we beat them once (at Upton Park under KK) and every game was brutal until the CL Sir Bobby win, not sure we lost after that.
  19. Used to be tricky customers these. Proper got their number now. 5 wins in a row, 6wins and two draws in the last 8, if I'm not mistaken Charlton went the same way after being a right pain in the erse.
  20. Herculean effort this week. We've played three sides little different to ourselves at present and got 7points out of 9. Regular fluid dominant performances with what have available is a ridiculous expectation so not remotely bothered by that.

    St James' Park

I'm in agreement with this as most clubs are having the same arguements about lack of atmosphere despite various different stadiums/acoustics. As mentioned for a different reason I've got a Mag out from mid 1994/95 having the exact same debate and SJP was pretty symetrical then whilst I myself recall lambasting the atmosphere in 98/99 just the the extension was starting. It just doesn't hold up.
  22. Not conflating Manchester City's spending with a dodgy owner in the lower leagues would be a better starting point. I just rejected the whole premise that Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal and Spurs suddenly cared about smaller clubs when all my time in football they've traipsed all over them - resented sharing gate receipts, pushed for the PL and pushed for the Super League.

    St James' Park

Needs a new facade which cant be argued. May as well sneak a few yards back and a few extra rows in while were doing it I think
