  1. Man United twice in the charity shield and Chelsea once if it comes to that.
  2. He's got the Gerry Francis look away thing down. He got his arse kicked in semi's by Scousers too.
  3. Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Man United, Liverpool in finals in a row
  4. The teams that have got to the final of this in the PL era - Sheffield Wed, Tranmere, Leicester (x2), Leeds, Wigan, Birmingham, Boro (x3), Blackburn, Bolton (x2), Swansea and Bradford and we get Man United and Liverpool. Three of our last four finals against the fkn champions.
  5. Helps about as much as handing out points deductions that risk relegation for clubs otherwise sustained by PL money. Only thing it there to sustain is the pecking order
  6. I did for the disallowed goal but was hestitant for Murphy's. What a mess.
  7. His touch and turn for the 1-2 with Gordon leading up to the goal was sublime. That as much as the strike itself would have made it an all-time great of ours had it gone in. Glad Murphy preserved it for posterity
  8. Made their set pieces look like what their set pieces actually really are.
  9. Feel worlds more positive for those two posts/reminders.

    Kieran Trippier

Brings such soothing smarts - at the very least
  11. Think were better in these sorts of tactical games and the onus off us and on the other team. Fans okay with letting the other team have it etc. Were excellent at that stuff. Proper old school Milan-esque.
  12. Well done everyone. The day is ours. Were Wembley sluts now.
  13. 6 clean sheets out of 8 against Arsenal/Arteta. Imagine the acidic seeth in the pit of his soul about it.

    St James' Park

Aesthetically what we have now minus the East Stand/Leazes Terrace problem plus a tier on the "Gallowgate" would do me just right.
  15. Just cant see any way that Arteta doesn't behave like an arsehole tonight.

    St James' Park

Sometimes not even opposition players - poor Ray Ranson did that one game I was there for.
  17. No idea how I managed back in the day if these sorts of games in the last few years or anything to go by. The FA Cup finals were write offs, fully expected to beat Sheffield United but Chelsea and Spurs in 99 and 00 should have been somewhat akin to this and don't remember being like this.
  18. Here we go again. He spent 48m in a season and a half. 23m net. Look at the clubs that went past us in his time (Derby, Blackburn, West Ham, Leeds), they managed to do that on nothing like that money. He spent more than Wenger did to overtake us and everybody else. Probably only Chelsea spent more (also went past us).

    St James' Park

The mackems discuss frequently how bad their atmosphere is and has been for a long time and occasionally flipping down to Radio Newcastle from Five Live (Wolve Arsenal the other day e.g) its apparent.

    St James' Park

Great memories that. Only sat there for one game (ZDS Cup against Oldham for a treat, probably £2 entry or something) and totally forgot about that happening but recall it vividly now. Even then remember intra-stand banter "The Benches" to the United tune aimed at the Gallowgate. Weird cos usually I stood in the Gallowgate at the time.

    Match Atmosphere

25years plus of this. From what I remember the home quarter-finals were pretty good (wasn't at the Everton one). Or at least a marked improvement on the usual. Case in both points remember discussing with someone in Feb99 how bad the atmosphere was even against Man United

Ha! That's my abiding memory too, and the rain. Nothing to do with the actual game for a while yet. Stand out feature from my second game against Everton was the same - the weather and that they played "Alone" by Heart at half-time.
  23. No chance. We were awful. Even with Shearer we had to cheat Barnsley over Easter to stay just above the relegation places and had a worse record with him than without. I personally like him but Dalgish gets off lightly because of the PLC stuff and the idea he had to sell being somewhat mythical when he spent 48m in a year and a half (well higher than Keegan) recouping 25m - so spent net 23m to make us infinitely worse results wise, quality of football wise and drop us the fringes of relegation from challenging for the title. Not the worst manager but I think he did the worst job with what he had to work with, took years to get back to close to where we were before another Liverpool numpty did a similar thing.
  24. Don't like that its not just a big game but I'm growing to hate these - dickhead fans now supplemented by dickhead manager, staff and players. I'd rather Liverpool win the league, and that's saying something.

First game against Liverpool in 1989. Goal after 3minutes by a Brazilian international against the champions followed by 3 of the worst years in the clubs history.
