  1. Think for once fans saying they 'dont want to get promoted' will play out next season if Southampton and Leicester are challenging.
  2. Did the same thing in 89/90 around this time of the season. Lost 4 games until April then lost four in six. Came through in the end and finished 2nd at our expense.

Forgot how uncomfortable they were pretending to be with Di Canio's ethics quick enough - Di Canio graffiti popped up overnight and blokes got tattoos of him - just because they beat us, though in fairness that is their equivalent of winning the lot
  4. Haven't always won but we've ran rings round these at home ever since Eddie arrived. Struggling to find logical reason to feel we wont prevail, which is a reason unto itself luckily.
  5. Oh lovely, one of the stories of the season and one that offered hope to smaller clubs reduced to cheating in this new climate.
  6. Always knew that ground was a bland identikit one but seeing it on Match Cam its as achingly boring as Southampton's, just doesn't quite come off that way on TV. Will be glad not to have to look at either next season
  7. Don't know how fun it is in league une when they win the title every year and barely lose a game
  8. On that ^ Wont mention the last time I seen Leicester play who they looked quite good against and deserved to beat but didn't
  9. The down side of no contest wins. But you'd rather that than the entertainment of that game Bruce nearly threw away. No injuries or exertions. Not much momentum and battle testing to take into next week - so that's my thing to worry about sorted.
  10. We were 6-0 up at half-time in 93, but your point still stands, we were electric then, nowt they could do.
  11. My first away game was at Dunfermline, pre-season 1990. 0-0 draw. Halcyon days. But seriously, bloody loved it.
  12. Had Hooper, Nielson and Malcolm Allen on the bench at one point. Nielson and Allen were okay for us really, but Allen hadn't returned from a year out by that point.
  13. A fit Lejuene in Howe's defences, a fit Viduka in the Wood role - the most fanciful thing isn't the time travel but their availability. Ruling Ben Arfa out only for questionable work rate that Howe might not approve of. Think Townsend's been a great shout.
  14. That's the nub of it for me. An achillies paradox with current rules they have to catch up to a better team that's been able to spend more money for at least one season by having effectively no more than the same spend available to them going into a new season.
  15. Don't want to tempt fate but at least every year since I got into this lark (88/89) we've dropped points to relegated teams but not so far this season. Cant speak for other clubs, the relegated teams must pick up their points somewhere, but were historically adept at it
  16. Seems too obvious for a team going for the CL to comfortably beat a team just waiting for relegation to be confirmed in a televised Monday night game. Wonder what the catch is.
  17. Glad Atleti nicked one there.

Said it before but in the last 40years Wimbledon - a non-league club until the 80s and a club that hasn't existed for quarter of a century - has a better league, cup and European record than Sunderland.
  19. Forest the last time they finished 3rd were pap on face value and quicky found their level thereafter but were much better to watch than current Forest. Combination of promotion momentum, Collymore's brief hot-spell and Bryan Roy's one and only good season.
  20. These rules though. How are they worth all of this synthetic bullshit
  21. Famous last words but cant see it not being a decent game. Got to ask what the point of being a football fan is if the best a Brentford can hope for can only result in a little bit of a celebration post match and hearty handshakes all round. I mean it'd be like playing an old computer game and getting a screen congratulating you at the end where you realise how much time you've wasted to achieve this.
  22. Beat them and drew with them (unlucky not to win) in the other games at home to Man City. With that team.
  23. Probably Norwich in the first PL season for as high as 3rd, were more fun to watch though.
  24. Well, as is Wilson. But so is Wood. Same amount of goals as Bergkamp, more than Bellamy, De Bruyne, Sutton and Cantona. Not bad for the clubs he's played for and a lean spell here
  25. The only place Wood didn't really do it was with us. He's one of the top scorers in PL history.
