  1. Was a total write off so I'm glad the changes weren't made today. Would have been hanging them out to dry to so and result in the status quo. Has to happen now though. Burn/Wilson at the very least. Its a bad run. It happens. Happened in the best seasons - ended with a bang usually. Need to get a goal up somehow and we'll be fine.
  2. Remember how many chances fell to Wood? He fluffed them but he must have done something right to get in a position to do so. Good chances too. Wilson has been worse than Wood this year.

    Match Atmosphere

Identical story. Used to be in the scoreboard segment but near the front, me and my mate always thought one day we'd evolve to be in the corner. As it happened because of over-crowding we ended up in the Paddock instead and I then sat in the East Stand for years from Leicester in 91/92 (first home win, so it started as a superstition) Just read about Derby fans complaining about atmopshere at their place being accused of sexism as women on their phones seemed to be a major gripe. I hadn't even factored in phone things when suggesting this is a generational thing. Still convinced it is. Its never going to be like it was anywhere, excepting the exceptions of clubs riding their highest wave in generations like Forest.

    Match Atmosphere

Actually the best the atmosphere probably ever was at SJP was when there were no away fans for half season in 93/94 and they were an irrelevance the year before too when the atmosphere was great also. There'll be a couple hundred people sit near the away fans for the goading but it wont change much. Always think of Norwich and about thirty in the corner of their end behind the goal bantering with the away fans but its not going to motivate someone on the other side of the ground.

    Match Atmosphere

We had the exact same arguements back then and I specifically remember getting disillusioned with it myself like people are now. Rose tinted a lot of this as well as overly self-critical. Nowhere is bouncing for every game, generally its got to be something that motivates like a big game, threat or a special performance. As teams improve there is less of them. Man United and Arsenal have gone back to come forward but those places have been abysmal for 20years previously out of expectancy.

I didn't but I imagine there was very little, being as it was asterisked as not counting long beforehand allied with NUFC not existing anymore etc. I'm surprised we even get a mention that being the case....unless they're just full of shit of course

    Match Atmosphere

I remember the variant of that more, associated with Derby County away in 92, so that era "The fulwell end, is always full, the Fulwell end is always full.." then an abrupt ending "Is it fuck!" Could be redeployed.

We'll never do either of those things marra. Tragically I wouldn't put it past them to sing it "you'll never do that, you'll do that, 3rd tier 3rd to 6th place play off champions, you'll never do that"
  9. Watched that Sheffield United one in 1990. Was interesting to see the other side of things and it was good but I had my fill of these things then and there. Feel they're basically the same with a different club slightly different story. Would watch ours but no interest generally I just don't find them interesting in the slighest when you're on the inside of the football world yourself, you know all this and/or can easily imagine it.
  10. MC v NU First followed/seen: 93/94 2-1 (Platinum club job) First attended: 94/95 League Cup 1-1 (missed our goal) Best: the 3-3 in 95/96 felt sloppy but probably best objectively, league cup game above was probably actually better Worst: Baring the league cup under Pardew and the two above they've all been bad and just blend into one - this c*nt'll be no different I imagine Best goal: Sissoko at the above probably (nicely taken Beardsley in 83/84)
  11. Think it makes even more sense. Unless we won the FA Cup we'd just play more games, more interference in the league to feel like we do now or worse.
  12. Cant be carrying performances like this (and its every week now) from a injury prone player, no matter who you are or what the ambition is.

    Loris Karius

Don't think he was suspect on either goal and yet still feel better could have be done, though its hard to gage on deflections its not hard to imagine that's saved against us.
  14. Can't fault much really. That we get out of what we have performances that match anybody is fantastic and as a whole we did okay, actually for me we didn't deserve to lose that. Its a concern at the moment that a couple purples have switched sides in Trippier and Wilson, the second of which is a weak link at the moment, offering little and not even an outlet for an aerial ball like Wood. We really need a vibrant forward to capitalise on the overall team play. Strongly suspected we'd lose, was pretty much certain by half-time and yet like 98 and 99 that sickening feeling has come over nonetheless. Can't deal with the slap in the face of the barely celebrating opponents right now. Ffs man I was considering self taxidermy had we won.
  15. You know how in cup finals Birmingham, relegated Wigan, Wimbledon, Luton, 2nd tier Sheffield Wed can beat Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United but when its us and were better than all of those sides on evey occasion it goes so according to form and predictability its almost too predictable ... what's up with that? 9 defeats in a row at Wembley.....ffs, against a bunch of c*nts who it doesn't even mean anything to.

    NUFC photos

Man U, Wembley, Charity Shield though but pretty cool I think
  17. My pitiful view was probably for the best.
  18. Retro ones, last final against Man United. Hardly belong in the epic photos thread, so where else and pertinent. Salvaging something out of 1999.

I thought it would be nice to hear about the bill clamping down on mackem perverts
  20. Spurs 1-2 Newcastle, Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle. Man United 0-0 Newcastle. Newcatle 1-0 Chelsea Brentford 2-2 Spurs Arsenal 1-1 Brentford Brentford 3-1 Liverpool Man City 1-2 Brentford Brentford 4-0 Manchester United Newcastle 5-1 Brentford
  21. Seen the thread bump and before I even opened it I thought the exact same thing
  22. Don't know much about him privately but would be shocked if he wasn't a good person. With that hope spot a week ago I had visions of his being halftime hero, a chance to say thanks and show appreciation now we'd all been given a second chance. So this will have to suffice. God bless him.

Case in point right there perhaps. Were more than an entire division ahead of them, with a final in a weeks time and in contention for the Champions League - and they're going on like that. There's no argueing with that. Some of them are happy with this. What would they and the excuses be like if they got to play us. Don't give them the satisfaction. If anything more humility pummelled into them by going the opposite way seems to be just and required here.
  24. Should have caveated that with not caring by the 1-5 and 0-6 or anything else under Ashley. Nothing that happened in that whole era good or bad will ever make a best/worst thing for me. The overall state of the club and shifting him was the only thing that really mattered.
  25. NUFC v LFC first game: 88/89 2-2 (first game overall) best game: 93/94 3-0 (Cole, snow, Souness on the dole) (also best atmosphere) worst game: 97/98 1-4 (Owen, Gullit, Sinbad off of crossroads) favourite goal: Watson 95/96 (last minute winner against nearest challengers, probably meant we'd win the league) worst goal: Pingel 88/89 (off his neck or something) best goal: Lee 94/95 (probably)
