Hope to be there obviously, even without a ticket or much hope of getting one - for instance I'd have gone to the UEFA cup final in 04 regardless - but the conundrum is that if things worked out I'd love to be in Newcastle for that night.

I think Leicester are better than the teams down there but not too good to go down, if that makes sense. Perhaps more geared to being above a relegation battle than the likes of Everton and Wolves where style wont be an issue, could be a factor.

Demanding deluding c*nt that I am/we are, I'm actually thrilled with the behind the scenes professionalism as much as anything. He'll be closer to Venison (speaking of signing players that split the fanbase, from Merseyside and have dodgy blonde hair) and Mickey Quinn than a Kevin Dillon

So up for this. Still can't quite believe it, 90mins away from a final we've actually got a chance of winning (a first for me). Its like the equivalent of getting to a semi in Keegan's first full season, by the time they happened regularly we'd been ready a good while. Suspect a continuation of the first leg with the lead not being such that one of those daft second-legs comebacks that spawn crazy momentum is on.

My reaction when I thought he was going to Fulham was 'oof decent signing for them, wouldnt mind him myself' so happy with this yes. With the versatility I'd rest easy the rest of this season, if were giivng ourselves a fit Wilson. Especially as its the midfield I often want to rest. Think Willock would be better for not having to play so regularly and be top notch most of the time.

Sorry for the retro, but will never get another chance to mention this Cassius Letsplay Other than that I like Missus Gordon and I'm anhedonic (if that's a word) on such things. Well done Anthony lad, good luck and howay.

Commisioned Gordon Was kinda hoping the delay was to do a treble unveil with Ashby and Maddison mind.

Joe Burger (Bugner) James Buster Dogless (after the fireworks)

Could be ripe for the plucking old Juve

Some assuagement The only transfer we've not aced was a needs must panic buy and they've monitored Gordon for a good while. We definitely needed an injection If he gets into the situations that Murphy has gotten into and with his pace he should, there will be a significant increase in positive outcomes it has to be said. As it stands were better now than were.

Was more fun to experience, a journey no pressure to win, atmosphere fantastic because of that. Difficult to say which was the best from a purely football point of view. Both quite different but beautiful to watch. The team play of one and the team play as a sum of the individuals in the latter. Poor 94/95. Some of the performances that season were incredible. And 92/93 for that matter. Some clubs must never see football like was played in those.
-
Goes under the radar but building that 95/96 team (Gillespie,Ginola, Ferdinand, Shaka, Barton) cost about £2.5m net in transfers alone. Cole, Fox, Mathie, Venison, Nielson, Robinson out. Factor in the record shirt sales and everything else probably made a healthy profit creating the best team we've ever seen.

A player were interested in doesn't turn up for work and the Andy Cole thread gets a big bump. Top work site algorithm.

Aside from the moments of ecstacy after certain goals (maybe that's a different thread) *Keegan coming back as manager - the change in atmosphere was palpable and I didn't know him as a player or live in the city and has thus far proved to be the biggest single difference to the club in half a century in retrospect. *Tino's 3rd v Barcelona, great view and just floated up it felt like in slow motion smiling (this must be what bliss is) and is probably the pinnacle moment for since 1969. *The team arching around the pitch towards us in the lap of honour following beating Leicester 7-1, 'we are the champions' on the scoreboard behind them and Lindasfarne playing the Geordie national anthem 'run for home' to my right. (personal reasons too).

Love how Its easy for everyone to get tickets because its easy for them to get tickets - they cant crack why that is because it involves delusion bursting. I've had neighbours come out of the woodwork to go to their games at Wembley. We have thousands and thousands of season ticket holders missing out.

No fan of Dyer, Bramble or Jenas but the only one of them that wasn't far too good to ever play for them ended up playing for them.
-
Back in the day I think Mark Hughes was the sort of player people hated but admitted he's the sort you'd love if he was your player. Very dirty in a physical sense but also that horrible sly Man United way but also very good. I don't get that vibe about Gordon.

Were like the new old Milan. Cappello's team that won 1-0, 0-1 or drew 0-0 every week and had ridiculous clean sheet record. .... ...... lost a final that year mind
-
The ultimate example of nice guys finishing second. Got a nice letter from UEFA for the way we played but the team full of c*nts got the trophies.
-
They must. I read people say "why are our fans so quiet" about games on here that everyone, fans neutral, rival that was there said was great.
-
Hinchcliffe was a very good player......from November 94 to May 95, with his inswinging corners and free-kicks.

Only signing Bowyer on a free in 2003 esque. (Cost us the CL on two counts that, winning the qualifier and finising 4th)

Their fans treating it like a derby is all that discerned it from any run of the mill game to me after 1992 where we moved beyond such things as being bothered about who got more attention on Look North and how biased Roger Thames was. Knowing how much it bothered them was the only extra to a win. It wasn't in itself something to celebrate beyond any other. When the legends finished (was on at work all the time) that rivalry pretty much did. Neither like or dislike them, don't mind one way or the other if they get promoted or not. Think the last time they had any effect on me at all was when taking a short-lived lead against us in 2009.
