There was a Saint & Greavsie episode where one said a similar thing, couldn't believe it then, never even concieved of such a stand point but had only known a couple mackems by then.
  2. It certainly doesn't in the league cup because no clubs with smaller squads even make it to January because of the way its stacked.
  3. No but the reason for a transfer deadline was to stop clubs from buying players so deep into a league season that it directly effects outcomes and integrity - the opposite of buying a player with two games of a competition remaining like we have here.
  4. The difficulty in scoring is a worry, its so specialised that if you don't have someone that's got the knack you might be a bit stuck irrespective of coaching.
  5. The performance, effort and tactics though positive is sort of bumming me out when juxtaposed with the rule disallowing us from strengthening (oh like say our opponents tonight), the schedule we have ahead and whilst they've a ton of charges hang over them.
  6. Relative to what we had available and the fitness levels, cant ask any more really beyond whatever is going on with our finishing
  7. We look like scoring only inasmuch as the chances are good but knowing these players and this season I've got little faith in them being scored. Its an absolute slog for us to bludgeon a goal.
  8. and for the clubs that are allowed to spend with impunity to bolster themselves at a time of the season where games come thick and fast
  9. Story of the season. Contrive to not score. Contrive to concede so readily.
  10. And I'm shocked that the new non-cup-tie rule has instantly benefited one of the 'big six' like every other rule change.
  11. Played really well there. With what we have available - in terms of fitness and what were not allowed to improve on - hats off albeit that makes it so frustrating. Must be nice to be able to bring in ringers for cup semi-finals
  12. Some defeatage in there. Hope given the circumstance this place can handle a few setbacks.
  13. Not necessarily, many a teams got to at least the final playing nobody along the way - the highest placed team either us or Arsenal played along the way in 98 was midtable West Ham.
  14. Gonna get into protracted transfer negotiations to sign a player we already own aren't we

    Kevin Keegan

What a strange feeling presided that day. Just as when he came back you could feel change in the air (and I didn't even know him as a player and it was palpable) that day and ther rest of that week just depressed the place, again not personally but generally palpably.

    Kevin Keegan

100% was a regular popularized song during his first stint. After we beat Blackburn in the cup in 95 the fans in the background of the Sky box sung it for about 30minutes solid whilst they broadcast Was a lush moment when Keegan came back with Man City and the crowd sung Keegan wonderland and after a few bursts it had become Robson wonderland, like a passing of the torch.
  17. Classic Ashley. Even the same opponent turfing them out
  18. Most important thing for Spurs remains not getting relegated from the cartel.
  19. Spurs West Ham next week - winner stays on
  20. Similar to them getting promoted really, cant see what could possibly go wrong there
  21. Makes me realise why some blokes never wanted to discuss the wars they were in, feel too drained and like all the efforts, an injuries just to win two games of football don't seem worth it, even though we've prevailed in glorious manner
