Vs relegation teams last season when we finished 4th: Conceded in both games vs Southampton, in the last one we were 1 goal down at half time and won it late. 2 draws against Leeds, conceding several chances including a missed penalty in the last one. 1 win and 1 draw against Leicester, we dominated the draw when they completely parked the bus, but we started conceding chances in the last 10 minutes including a huge one in extra time. I don't understand how on earth a slow start to a game is a cause for concern all of a sudden.. I asked for examples of games where we "played out of our skin for 90 minutes", but it seems like he can't provide it.

Can you give an example of a game where we played out of our skin for 90 entire minutes? Where we completely dominated from start to finish? Maybe 2-0 against Man United last season. Other than that, I think you will struggle to find one, especially one where we lost. It would be strange to me if they gave up already at 1-0.. I don't think they really gave up until it was 3-0 or so.

Maybe we had a slow start for 10 minutes or so, but that doesn't mean that we were 7/10 overall today. It's as if Isak scored 5 goals in a game, but we give him a 7 rating because he didn't do much for the first 10 minutes.
-
7/10? We broke records today.. Lots of teams have been 2/10 against top sides before without having records be broken against them. So if we were 9/10 today we would've won 14-0?

This guy should be starting every week whenever he's fit. What an impact he's making.

Howe out, sell Bruno.

Why did we not want the last corner?

So where are all the experts saying that Chelsea will be back this season?

Manchester United are so damn boring to watch this season. Usually their opponents are more entertaining, which includes Wolves and Burnley..

The waterbottle one?

I thought he was doing a lot of strange things against us aswell. He didn't look very good. On another note, did anyone see Juves own goal? Crazy

Honestly thought that all 3 situations should've gone in their favour, and not just 2 of them. Sometimes lucky, I guess..

I kind of don't care that much anymore, but Simon Jordan is getting on my nerves. Having strong opinions about things he doesn't have a clue about, making assumptions, and talking as if he's an expert. At the same time as he attacks other people for seemingly having agendas and biases, not getting facts straight, and mindlessly swallowing media narratives. Which is exactly what he is doing in this case. The least you should expect is for him to get his facts straight, or do some basic fact checking.

I don't know. I remember stats saying we were 20th in the league in both chances created and chances against under Bruce. A miracle we stayed up, and in the last full season we played way better after Graeme Jones came in, and went from 19th to 13th or something like that. Never seen a Bruce team play like that. Coincidence? Right before this we had parked the bus against Sheffield United, giving them their first win of the season (halfway through), just inviting them into our box the entire game.
-
Now Simon Jordan is saying that it was just a media narrative that Steve Bruce played bad football with dinosaur tactics, and that the only reason we liked Benitez more was because he dared to challenge Ashley. Oh, and by the way, lets bring up the difference in spending between Howe and Bruce, while also ignoring the difference in spending between Bruce and Benitez. Simon Jordan talking like a Newcastle expert when he clearly didn't even watch our games under Bruce.. Just making assumptions and present them as facts, while creating false narratives himself.. Honestly most people in here could be doing punditry better than these lot, the level is just really low..

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)
Erikse replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
I agree, but it's hard to argue with Trippiers impact. Imagine us without Trippier since the first window. I know a similar argument can be made for Botman, but Kieran has been insane. -
Dan Burn has featured in every single league game since joining us except for the first one vs Everton right after he joined, meaning 59 games in a row. He has started 56 of them. And for those who thinks his main position is left back: he has played 317 games at centre back (21 with us) and just 90 as a left back (44 of them with us). So basically he has only featured in 46 games as a left back in his entire carreer before joining us.
-
No, no, stop guys! You're ruining it! The reason he's not performing at his best is because he got forced out and his heart belongs with San Siro! We need to stick with the narrative!

Was it the international break again? What is Sweden doing to him..

This interview is so one sided, literally ignoring many key parts of the criticism. Funny how Jordan always accuse everyone else of having biases, then delivers highly biased interviews like this. Wasn't he the one who were having a go at Piers Morgan because he wasn't being critical enough with Ronaldo in his interview?

Yeah, I was suspicious that they probably had even more painful losses at the end, just coudln't remember and didn't bother to check.

"Terrible manager complains about being treated as a terrible manager" Some unsuccessful people really love playing the victim..
