  1. Extra 30 mins in the legs feels a lot worse after a pen shootout loss than a win, I’ll tell you that* *based on no actual experience.
  2. Honestly not too disheartened about it and hope the players aren’t either. The final coming up and Liverpool basically having already won the league gave it a really odd backdrop in which players largely went through the motions. I think 2-0 or 3-1 was always going to be the result. Saying all this I don’t think they look perfect and the cup will be a completely different occasion. We as fans have to go in with the expectation that we can win, I’m confident the players will. The threat of Isak completely changes the dynamic, with him this could have been seen as a good counterattacking performance. Largely limited chances and made a couple ourselves. They are clearly favourites but we have a fighters chance, and that’s enough for me.
  3. Yep agree. Once we are leading Joelinton basically plays as a left sided centre half supporting Hall anyway. So given he can’t do that may as well have a centre half do it, who can also support from corners, rather than a midfielder not used to it.
  4. This is caused by Joelinton absence rather than being defensive I think. he’s picked his best 11 rather than a particular system (trips aside). Could give hall more license and Gordon more space inside. Wouldn’t class it as “shitting the bed”.
  5. That’s potentially true but I think those stars are bought in enough to realise that if they don’t make the champions league that might be on them. I might be naive but there seems to be a collective responsibility there that they win together and lose together. And they owe it to each other to make it to the top.
  6. It was really poor. But we are part of a group of really good teams who play each other quite often and it will be decided by the first goal, confidence, woodwork etc et. The league has never been like this. The quality outside of the promoted teams are insane. Man U and Spurs, as hilarious as they are, in any other league in Europe are top 6. Which is why they are favourites for the Europa. Which is a long way of saying we are going to have weirdly poor days and exceptional days. But I trust Eddie and these players to do more of the latter than the former. And they will be so up for Wednesday, as will we
  7. I think the third one seems better when you are watching it live, the anticipation when he is running through makes the finish that much better. It’s one of those on highlights once you know it’s a goal doesn’t have quite the same hit. Still a lovely bit of play though and shows Tonali at his absolute best. Both great goals to be honest, with genuine top class play.
  8. I think he comes across really well to be fair. Similar to Gordon, engaging to listen to and not just a robot on answers.
  9. Sell our captain and probably most consistent best player for the last 2 years for PSR. No thanks. No guarantee Gomes plays well in the premier league, especially for a team like us who isn’t heavy on possession.
  10. Shearer was the absolute best at what he did. So was Henry. So was Cantona. Just so happens they were all very different forwards. Game is too complex to put them together. Not really mentioned because he is what he is but Luis Suarez is probably the most underrated of the above. The Jaques Kallis of the football world. Had it all (including biting unfortunately)
  11. Respectfully couldn’t disagree more. It’s helped his discipline massively and he is starting to clearly mature more. He is the beating heart of the team and first to congratulate / support all other players. It’s his first captains role so he is still learning it but his poor (at times) performances are more down to playing non stop for 2 years than captaining a team who he clearly loves. On a different point I’m not even sure anyone else you would give it to. Tripps who wants to leave, the geordies who aren’t in our best team and already have the crowd on their back. Schar perhaps but not exactly long term planning. Big Jo a maniac. No issue him being captain for me, however does need a rest and you’d think with 5/6 centre mids we could achieve that.
  12. I think Hall’s biggest challenge to being Englands long term left back is Davis. Reminds me of Chilwell when he was coming through. Reckon he may get a big move this summer if Ipswich go down.
  13. It’s the one silver lining of them doing well. Slightly undermines the prick.
  14. Most underrated thing about Salah is timing of his runs. 9/10 he is exactly on the right line. Compare that to Nunez and it’s even more stark. Bell-ends.
  15. No need for a roast when you got the chicken dance first hand
  16. I think it’s ridiculous for a lot of to sit around and judge these “old” lads for having a drink. They’ve committed their entire life to being a professional footballer. I can’t imagine the sacrifices that is when all your mates are out boozing and jealous about you at the same time. Now these kids are expected to be holier than though because that’s what it requires to make it to the big time. Whilst we are in the stands shouting at them to close them down after we’ve had 4 pints. Tripps has been a hero for us, if he wants to get pissed, go for it.
  17. I honestly think if you write down the top 10 teams in the league by player ours would be about 7th or 8th. BDB, young fullbacks, Murphy. Hell even Gordon was an unknown 1 year ago. I think Eddie over achieved massively first 18 months and now we are about where we should be unless we have increased investment. Chelsea are suddenly doing incredibly well after literally spending an Austin Powers ransom amount. I believe in Eddie. Don’t let him be a victim of his own success.
  18. I thought he was excellent today. We are noticeably more balanced and our right side looked more dangerous than it did all season 2nd half with him and Tonali comfortable on the ball. Rare part of the pitch where we have 2 quality players competing for one spot currently.

    Marc Guehi

FWIW mate is a palace season ticket holder and said scoreline on the weekend would have been much worse without him. Left exposed and made plenty of good defensive contributions not on the highlights. Having Schar back yesterday highlights how important progressive centre backs are to us. I reckon we will be back in for him.
  20. He shoots He scores goals that hide his flaws. Harvey Barnes Harvey Barnes Just kidding of course. Very important player and seems up for it this season.
  21. People have lost their minds. We don’t want to be Man City and become soulless immediately. We were devoid of direction recently, not having an adequate right winger is ok. Take a breath. Enjoy the ride.
  22. Maybe not but he has a personality which is a relief in modern football. Always a chance that being at Madrid makes him unbearable but right now I like that he has something about him. Even if it borders on the arrogance
  23. Just letting everyone spend whatever they want doesn’t end well either. The world is becoming more unequal, football would too. As nice is it has been for Man City to deny classically dislikable teams that would get old soon too. This system is flawed because it is already biased to bigger teams without letting others close the gap. The do nothing system is flawed because it rewards who has the richest owners rather than anything else. I’m increasingly moving towards wanting a spending cap that isn’t dictated by revenue, losses etc. but is purely an absolute limit based on spend over the last x number of years. Maximise number of transfers allowed, don’t reward pure profit academy sales. Allow other teams to catch up and reward savvy transfers, good management and importantly great support. A pipe dream and not thought through but anything to stop the accountants or Chelsea winning.
