As for the Man Utd pull…
-
Donnarumma Is a weird one. People will put him up there in elite bracket because of the games they saw in UCL this season and the monumental saves. But he’s only a fraction above Pope for playing with his feet in truth and he’s prone to some massive blunders whilst weirdly not being great in the air for someone so tall Would be an improvement over Onana, but at £250k+ a week, it’s not some certified lock in for rest of this decade. Amorim is on a short leash to start this season. Can 100% see Ratcliffe sacking him by November if they’re off the pace for UCL, because he’s not spending £300m and not expecting UCL football. This isn’t some patient rebuild when you are making out the credit.

Absolute non starter at 80m Proper vibes of Jackson Martinez with him if that’s the fee.
-
A top class midfielder backs themselves to dislodge Joelinton. As much as he’s a great icon for us, he’s overall play is so limited to where we want to get to as a club.
-
2-0 drab opening game defeat. Based on performance there few months ago when we were challenging hard for UCL, giving our pre season and no striker, there’s no optimism from me. Essentially looking at Leeds away as the start of our season.

First three games of the season will be a write off. Below Sunderland in table at first international break before we can then get going with new signings. -

injuries. So some positives… -
If we’re truly ambitious, then Thiaw doesn’t even need to be a long term RCB. He’s someone that will be competing with someone else for the RCB next season as Schar at 34 going 35 should be moved on. So it’s not like we are hanging our long term hopes on him, he’s a much better option than Lascelles, could surprise us or at worse be a dependable squad player.

Why has it taken this long to finally do the deal is the only negativity for me. Should’ve been done 4 weeks ago seeing we knew loads about him.

Trippier will surely be RCB? Or Ashby. Just hope Botman comes through unscathed. -
Didn’t realise Allegri is back at Milan. Italian clubs and their managerial merry-go-round

Trippier RCB and start Hall again for 45? Or is that too risky on his comeback. Think it’s a bit of a continued mess that in the final game before season starts, we’ve not been able to try out a full strength team together. -
Find that hard to believe he downed tools. If howe is making him train away now, why would he keep playing him back end of last season when chasing for UCL if he was putting in no training effort and his data that’s monitored in game is showing he’s running X% less? Wilson would’ve started some games in that case instead of always coming off bench.

Goes back to Liverpool. Offer £150m which then makes us seriously consider it (peak value which we have to consider), or publicly leak you are going elsewhere so Isak can come crawling back with tail between his legs. But Liverpool being the cunts they are, know they can drag this out till we play them, so he’s not involved, then move on elsewhere.
-
I’m starting to lean back into this is all on Mitchell / Eales. If Isak had an agreement he could leave in summer, it wouldn’t be with Howe, it would be with the guys running the club. Then when Mitchell fucks off (as he knew what a shit show summer it would be) and Eales went, Howe has been left to pick up the pieces from an agreement between Isak and people who are no longer at the club. Howe been blindsided, and has to reconfigure attack for a lead guy. Like he knew he wanted a 2nd striker and we’d be targeting players on that list, but all of sudden we’re chasing the named striker late on which will piss off Howe no end as he’ll likely want to know more about them before committing.
-
Think if it was a club abroad, after that first bid we’d have worked out a deal and he’d be gone for £110m rising with add ons, 100%. Liverpool is literally a club we’re trying to compete with over next 3-5 years, and giving them Isak in his prime years doesn’t help us. Has to be an eye watering amount past £150m to make it palatable.
-
If PSG move on both of Ramos and Muani for £50m fees, they’re the logical side to make a big money move, even though they’re less prone to those deals these days. Isak is as close a player that would compliment their flexible attack with Dembele, Doue, Bracola, Kvara. Frightening attacking options that would be under Enrique
-
Liverpool need to make a new bid because it’s a Mexican stand off from all sides. We won’t ‘open the door’ as Howe has said, he’d want him here and rightly so as he’s a top three striker in the world. Isak won’t force the move publicly, and like say not turn up to the training ground at all which then leads to disciplinary issues etc. Liverpool are not making a new bid, despite their season officially starting this weekend. One of those three situations needs to change, or we continue as we are up to end of window (or a point one of those does change).
-
That was a proper feisty game for the first game of season Birmingham fans a mess on edge after game 1, what they going to be like at end of season.
-
He will hopefully be going on loan at end of window. He’s 3rd choice in all positions and guy needs to actually play regular football at his age to develop his game.

Game changers on bench to turn this around 2nd half.
