Assume it won’t be full pay off, say he’s on £50k pw, it could be £30k pw paid off over the course of his deal. We get him off the books, and he importantly can be more freely available to talk to clubs, otherwise it would’ve been a whole summer again of us wanting to get as much loan covered as possible, with him ending up somewhere he doesn’t enjoy after an unenjoyable summer. Just something that’s good for both parties. We get the cost permanently written off and the hassle, he gets to approach all clubs before pre season fully starts to get a fresh start.
  2. Would the contract extension come with a clause which sees reduced compo if not making play offs?
  3. Miley when he fills out and gets more experience will be our Wharton.
  4. More 6 months, from late March onwards he dropped off loads. Even before then, he had games where he looked off it, but had an extra midfielder alongside him.
  5. I’m going to be so livid if we finish behind this shit team. Unjust we finished behind them last season.
  6. He’s had one season of injuries. Guy is a top star, would buzz hard if we got him.

Man City were solid at set pieces even when they had smaller players. Just a case of at the moment, the best players in certain positions are tall. As long as you've got 4 players that can outright be a threat in the air, that's fine. Long term, Lewis will be more of a full back for Man City and Arsenal will have Timber. Both on short side.

Having a side that’s regularly attacking the penalty box and not by just crosses/set pieces helps
  9. Boys coming back, I’m going into this game expecting a win by 3+ goals. So a defeat when hopes are back high

Another superb performance from him. Nailed on going to Euros after that performance in front of Southgate.
  11. Nice win. Feels just one more win should be enough for Europe. As I can’t see Chelsea winning 3 of their last 4.

Don’t think he’s ever going to be a top defender in the defensive side, just needs to do the basics well and all the threat will be going forward. Having a full back that’s basically a competent outfield player is huge moving forward when we are likely to have more possession and need to be better with the ball to both control/stop counters and break sides down. Basically can’t compete at the top end and not have all your outfield players comfortable with the ball in pockets/half turns and be fairly press resistant.

Proven steady premier league defenders for £0, or roll the dice on some expensive ones? No brainer. Save the core money on the blue chip RW and additional CM.
  14. Hamstring injury when back, out till December
  15. Probably a chance though considering it was late January where we were desperate for a LB, and to get him to agree a transfer, had to put a big wage in. It was loan with option to buy, but quite a lot of the time the contract part would already be agreed with the loan party of the deal.
  16. Basically want a RW who’s capable of coming inside and picking ball up in pockets. When we’ve got Tino bombing down RW, we don’t need a RW who’s also hugging touch line and running on outside.
  17. Fear this will be a bad defeat with Burnley with a bit between their teeth and our away form piss poor, mixed in with being unable to cope with pace. We win though, feels we’d be only 3 points away from Europe of some sort.
  18. Minutes this season compared to all previous ones must be a huge jump?
  19. Going to be fun next week when we don’t learn and Lyle Foster is running through for multiple one on ones.
  20. Get Longstaff off, move Murphy RB, Tino LB, get Hall into midfield, and get Barnes on with Gordon RW.
  21. Let’s get to HT at least level please. Embarrassing stuff once again from us.
  22. Been shown for a long time now, we can only play one way with our midfield set up, and when it doesn’t work, it’s bad. There’s no middle ground.
  23. Not sure what we’ve been doing on training ground over that 10 day break, but not for the first time this season we look like a badly coached side. Hopefully get a break and equaliser and can use it as a wake up. But just like Forest/Luton home games this.
