thenige
The thing that fucks me off the most was reading about his thoughts on Perez - how he "didn't know much about him and he's forced his way in". A player who started a good number of Premier League matches last season. So we went out and spent all our transfer budget on a player who wants to play number 10 and is stuck on the LW, swapped one crap winger for another and signed in fairness, a decent striker and defender. Was it pot luck? One player for each position and that'll do? We now have a squad with at least four number 10s (Gini, De Jong, Perez, Sissoko) and what looks like no decent centre-mids and only one defender (Mbemba) who on current form isn't an absolute liability. The squad is so unbalanced it's ridiculous. Would it have been that hard to do your honework ffs? The spine of the time is laughable. It looks an almost impossible job seeing as so many players are phoning it in. But the manager no-one particularly wanted has done almost nothing to stop the rot so far. Mick
If we were a proper club then McClaren should go, we're not a proper club and would just appoint more shite. Sacking McClaren would be pointless as we wouldn't look to appoint the best person to replace him and we would just end up with more of the same. Tiresias
If we were never going to properly address the problems in our squad McClaren or not, and face it we weren't they go too deep, imo the huge mistake was not signing Austin. I know when Mitrovic was looking good people were glad to have given him the chance, but honestly we may not have played much better but with a proven goal scorer in the squad we probably would have beaten West Ham, Stoke, Watford, possibly Man U, and maybe have got the first goal in the derby and we'd be perfectly safe points wise. I agree that Austin is limited and maybe I'm overegging it but there have been a lot of points on offer for us and we've failed because we're relying on players who are gambles. This summer all the players must rank fairly highly. We've been linked with Thauvin for years. Spent good money on the rest. £50m should get you a decent CB, CM, winger & Striker like. Only Mitro is exactly what we needed.

No manager in their right mind should or would touch nufc. Working for a cockend like Ashley who runs the club like a discount store with no ambition other than to lurk around the league making money from TV deals.
