Mr. Snrub
Kaka by a country mile. Messi and Ronaldo havent shown similar form when its mattered the most. Yeah, scoring a hat trick in El Clasico to earn your team a point is not a big deal at all.
tmonkey
Kaka by a country mile. Messi and Ronaldo havent shown similar form when its mattered the most. Yeah, scoring a hat trick in El Clasico to earn your team a point is not a big deal at all. Messi hasnt performed in the CL well enough to win this award. Very dissappointing against Liverpool for a start. As mentioned, in the crunch CL games where teams and players are doing everything they can to win the game, Kaka excelled whilst Ronaldo and Messi were marked out of their respective games. I think at that stage of the competition, against that calibre of opposition, the CL is harder for an attacking player to perform in than any domestic league fixture. Same for an FA Cup final, latter stages of an international finals, etc etc. Thats why the deciding factor so often for POTY is often the big cup performances on top of sustained strong domestic form. Hence why Henry has never won it, and rightly so.
Tooj
Ronaldo, took Man Utd to the title and cripled Chelski's dominance And didn't show up as per usual when they needed him most.
Guest gggg
Ronaldo Messi Kaka In that order. Kaka has been gash in Serie A for about 2 years, imagine how good Ronaldo and Messi would be in the CL if they didnt have to bother with the league on the weekend. Flip
Kaka without a shadow of a doubt. He's the best player in Europe right now, without him Milan have been playing poorly. There's no one as important to a team as Kaka. He scores, he creates, he defends and he runs nonstop. He shows his talent in the national team too, and is the leader of a team with players liek Ronaldinho and Robinho in. Probably one of the fastest in the world when he has the ball at his feet, fantastic vision and fantastic shot. Only player who in my eyes deserve this price. Ronaldo and Messi are excellent player but unfortunately none of them have been at the same level as Kaka.

johnnypd
kaka disappeared 2nd half against man utd when gattuso went off, and was up against brown and heinze in the first half, not exactly top class opposition. there's also his no-show against liverpool when up against a solid midfield in alonso and mascherano who completely nullified him. he wasn't nearly as effective in serie a as in europe either. he's a bit of a "genre player" like gerrard with similar faults, in that he can only play to his potential when the team is formed around him and when the opposition specifically targets him he can struggle. i'd say out of the three messi is comfortably the most naturally talented but he too has failed to perform on the highest stage and unlike ronaldo or kaka wasn't the driving force behind domestic or european success. so there's no stand out player in the past year who is easily ahead of anyone else, either of them would be deserving of the award. Mr. Snrub
Kaka was also poor in the Final, and if Mascherano was still on the pitch there was no way he would have got the space he did to be able to find Inzaghi for the second goal.

Lets be fair here, if Milan had played to their full potential they would trounce Man U.
