LoveItIfWeBeatU
It may take until 23:59:59 on August the 31st but with the strong rumours of Everton interest plus whispers of Aston Villa and Sunderland interest we may actually sell Smith in this Transfer window. Now we are coming to the end of the transfer window things will start to move faster. The last day is usually quite busy with signings being announced all the way through into the 1st of September. "But that's the end of players going out." Looks like we're going to be stuck with Alan Smith then. If Keegan want to keep him then fair enough. Keegan has accepted a great challenge with this decision, try to get Alan Smith playing better than diabolically.

BONTEMPI
If Keegan really wants Smith to stay then I am worried about his sanity. So am i really, what are the odds that he even starts him on Sunday? Pretty high as Keegan said all he needs is a Goal! Stick him in the reserves, if he's scoring regular in that I have no problem him being back in the 1st team

Shak
No excuse for starting him as far as I can see. We've got Martins to play up top and we can use either Duff or Milner playing just off, so barring a rash of late injuries starting Smith would be a terrible decision, given how poor he's been in pre-season. Baggio
I still think he'll leave. I don't think Keegan would want to lose him and Ameobi if another striker wasn't signed up, so he'll get rid of Shola, get a replacement in then Smith will go towards the end of the window, I can't see him wanting to stay here if he was 5th choice anyway tbh. LoveItIfWeBeatU
Hopefully Everton losing today will result in a panic bid for Alan Smith that we simply can't refuse.
Guest Phil K
be nothing short of a massive f***ing joke if he starts Agreed. And I too will be desperate that Everton put in a bid for Smith after being played off the park at home today.
James
Very telling I think that Duff has replaced Smith as fourth choice striker, and that Smith didn't even come off the bench. I don't think Keegan rates him, and Smith will be taking that wage cut Everton are offering him by September 1st.
colinmk
I think if and when we sign another striker KK will start thinking about shifting him, he won't be going if we don't get a new one that's for sure.

That's why he left Man U to come to us, to get regular games. If Everton want him surely he'd rather go there to play than sit on our bench?

He wouldn't play here either when everyone is fit, even though our squad is tiny. The last rumour I heard on this was that Moyes wasn't happy with Smith's attitude and lack of willingness to drop his wage for a move to go through.
