I'm going to get some pelters my way but bobby gets too much credit imo.  He inherited a decent team just with a shite manager.

I feel like managers and players alike aren't held in such high regard for football achievements alone - but for their personality and ability to connect with the supporters. This is true of Keegan, Robson and Howe. To reduce it down only to footballing achievements is to miss the point a little bit imo.

I always praise Sir Bobby to the hilt for what he did with what he had, never really thought until this thread that being unimpresed on face value with what he had was largely due to his not buying well.

Was reported at the time that Robert and Bellamy (just about the two exceptions) were lucky escape alternates for Zenden and Jeffers.

He did great for me though. Was a complete turn around in results and performances with what he inherited to what had gone before in 99/00 which proved his coaching credentials (51points in 32games for a side that had 23pts from the previous26).

Definitely didn't inherit a decent team for me either.

Though 00/01 was horrid, it was still better than Gullits and Dalglish's league season which cup runs did a lot to disguise.

Keegan though still. But they're playing different games really. Spiritually KK as well as management. Others management.
