If you look at it we have stripped our wage bill drastically, the squad is probably the thinest its been for years, and we are resorting to bargain basement stuff (manager and players). Maybe MoN was tipped off about this?? There is something seriously wrong at St James's Park!!! Aye, obviously we're financially crippled. Oh, hang on, we spent £15m in a month. Hmm. We all know (including Roeder) that he's not up there with the best to say the least. He could be a player to come in and mix it up a little, adding some experience and professionalism to the squad of players. He could be Zoggy's mentor, in that he's French, and could show him what professionals are like. If he comes in, tries his arse off, and we benefit from his signing in any way, shape or form, then it wouldn't have been a bad thing. I'm sure he hasn't been signed to be in GR's first team plans. We know the kind of player GR wants to sign in Duff and Martins, and to be honest, I'm surprised we got them as they are both very very high calibre players. Don't forget, Duff only went to Chelsea a short while ago for 17 mill!! Martins was Inter's best and most exciting player recently. All i'm saying is that **** it! he's here! Yes I'm greatly disappointed it wasn't someone better, but what if there are good things that can come out of it? He could get his chance say in an important semi-final, when we're really desperate, and being the good pro he is, will come in, and do a fantastic job for us as a stop-gap, and we go on to win the match. Remember when Man U signed that ancient Scottish keeper? (name escapes me!), and he played a fucking blinder on the one appearance he made? Chill boys. Souness REALLY set us back to this with his over spending. What are you lot going to do about this? Fucking stop supporting the club? No. So swallow it and move the **** on. This all smacks of pure desperation, abolutely no planning and no idea. Roeder and Shepherd have been an embarrasment, if we can't mix it financially now, stop talking like we can. We had 2 years to sort out a replacement for Shearer, and we scrabble around in the final week after the season has started. Our shambolic defence is depleted further (with the transfer of Boum) and nothing is done to sort it out (apart from trying to see over Southgate's shoulder to see who is on his list). I can identify 20 players who we haven't signed. We needed two quality strikers and at least 3 defenders - we got 1 quality striker, one quality midfielder who was not a priority, a young kid with no premiership experience and a janitor. I'm not sure where the blame lies but not sorting out our defence is nothing short of criminal. True. Just to think we have Bramble and moore in the centre of defence against european teams is a joke really. we have Babayaro at left back who has been utter sh*te and if he gets injured we have no natural LB to replace him. our main priority in the last few days should of been atleast 2 defenders! whats happened to us supposedly signing Bridge? everyone knows ashley cole is away to Chelsea now so why havent we been in there getting him signed? unless he wants to stay at chelsea. Shearer: Forgetting what a lengend he was, he offered us very little but the fact he could hold up a ball. Chopra: Not good enough Boumsong: Your correct he wasn't great therefore should not have been a body in the squad. Faye: You missed, he's shite. A fit Owen: like saying a fit dyer Now if your saying would i swap Bowyer, Shearer, Chopra, Boumsong, and and faye for Martins, Duff, Rossi (loan) Milner, Butt and Sibierski . I would have said thank you very much. With a similar squad we finished 7th dispite having a useless manager for half a year. I have no doubt we are capable of reaching that again, if not further. Sounds very subtle indeed, we have lacked a quality centre back who can stay fit for over five years, yet we still consist on buying midfielders. There's no gaurantees with any of them. I really am baffled how you can think we're better off now than last year. We've signed an admittedly good winger who we didn't need. We were already covered in that position with N'Zogbia and as you say O'Brien. Rossi's only here for 4 months and will then fuck off regardless if he's any good or not. The way we operate in the transfer market we're likely to go the whole of January at least a striker down before we get a replacement. Sibierski is gash. I wouldn't swap him for anyone!
