To be fair though that's obviously going to happen, and it happens with most players. There's a sweet spot on the ball where if they connect perfect then it'll fly. Early Madrid/Inter days. I think its more the opposite, remembering the more recent Carlos who started to thump every free kick he could yet couldnt hit a barn door and forgetting the younger Carlos who was pretty good with his set pieces.
