mrmojorisin75
I honestly don't get the valuation of players now-a-days.. Crouch will probably go for around the £10m mark, Bosingwa went for £16m, Arshavin is being touted at anything from 12m-20m+ and yet Deco went for 8m, as well as Inter offering about 8m for Lampard? Its crazy. deco is 30+ and lampard is approaching 30 aye? there's your answer i suppose - not a lot of clubs want to pay huge fees for ageing players these days regardless of how good they are

sempuki
From the ever reliable People: DUFF PLOY FOR ANTON By Dave Kidd Newcastle will offer Damien Duff to West Ham in a player-plus-cash bid for Anton Ferdinand. Toon boss Kevin Keegan is keen to land Ferdinand and re-create his England Under-21 central defensive partnership with Steven Taylor. Tottenham have also registered interest in Ferdinand but neither club has come close to Hammers' £10m valuation. West Ham boss Alan Curbishley wants to bring in a left winger, with Luis Boa Morte and Matty Etherington both likely to leave Upton Park. And Newcastle believe Republic of Ireland man Duff, 29, could tempt them to part with Ferdinand. Duff, once signed by Chelsea for £17m, - returned from a serious ankle injury last season but has failed to nail down a regular first-team place. Dave
Now that's a fucking dilemma. Getting rid of Duff versus bringing Ferdinand in. Really not sure. PS - Ferdinand and Taylor? That would be disastrous. Luckily it's the People.
STM
I'm going to get slated for this but i actually rate the lad. When he hits 27 he will be one of our top centre backs IMO.
Yorkie
Cripes. Dilemma indeed. I probably wouldn't tbh, i think we'll be able to get rid of Duff anyway. There's not a lot to Ferdinand imo.
midds
Anton Ferdinand is shite. He gets favourable press because of his surname and the club he plays for. There, I've said it.

I remember him getting linked with Barcelona the other year
Skeletor
I'm all for getting rid of Duff but it needs to be cash only. West Ham can keep their shit.
nufc4eva
I really dont understand the slating that taylor gets at times. he is 22 and has had to play with bramble and doomsong. he has scored 5 goals and shows glimpses of class. has one or 2 errors but apart from that i think he is solid. if he played for another team you would be wanting to sign him. I think its because of the praise he gets from outside the club people seeing him as our only good defender a future England player but he isnt anything special and i would be suprised and disappointed if we didnt sign a better CB this summer

Guest Heneage
I'd take that deal, ship 60k off the wages, get a young defender in who could improve.

Guest MaetihS
MaetihS - Who / what in our current squad / set-up do you actually like? Genuine question. Players that i like: Martins, Beye, Faye, Owen (if he is fit), Lua Lua (has high hopes for him) Players that i feel are just not good enough: Taylor, Smith, Barton, Duff, Carroll (worried if he is our backup striker) Players borderline on my list: Enrique (potential), Geremi (despite his faults, dressing room influence and seem to win with him on the side put him as an ok player), Viduka (brilliant on his day). Players that i feel are realistic to bring in to improve our squad: Larsson, Nolan, Diouf, Steed, O'hara, Darren Bent and to be more ambitious but hard to attract; Aimar, Benayoun, that Russian wingback, Zirykov (spelling?), or any unknown playmaker that can actually pass and create.
