Is it bad to laugh? At Spurs. Obviously.

Tottenham's King out for season

Tottenham captain Ledley King has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The England centre-back has been given the time to recover from a long-standing knee injury, which has kept him out for most of the campaign.

"My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation," said the 27-year-old.

"But we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further and make sure that I come back fitter."

King, who has won 19 England caps, skippered Spurs to Carling Cup glory against Chelsea at Wembley in February, but his fitness was not risked on a regular basis this term and he played in only 10 matches all season.

His influential presence has been badly missed by Spurs, who have struggled defensively throughout the campaign, highlighted by an embarrassing 4-1 home defeat against Newcastle last weekend.

King was certain to have been part of England's World Cup squad in 2006, but missed the competition after breaking a bone in his foot.

As a result of his injury problems, he has played only four matches for his country in the last two years, the most recent being a Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia in June 2007.

Last season, King missed more than half Tottenham's matches because of various injuries and had knee surgery in June 2007.

In the remaining weeks of this season Spurs have little to play for, having already qualified for Europe by virtue of their Carling Cup triumph and being comfortably placed 11th in the Premiership.

The captain added: "They are six games I could well have taken part in, but we all believe this is worth doing for the longer term benefit."

King's like McGrath man. Obviously nowhere near as good as Paul though.  :snod:

Actually I know we all hate Tottenham, but King to me seems a decent lad and a model pro and I hope he doesn't have to pack it in for his sake.

Couldn't help but laugh a little when i heard, but i do feel for him, not them though.

Playing woody through the pain barrier (according to MJ) is asking for trouble, now they have no real choice and will end up knacking him no doubt.

As someone else has said King seems like a decent lad and I feel bad for the bloke with all of the injuries he's had.

However I've never forgotten a thread on GG.chat when Martins came off injured in his first game for us away to Villa, it looked pretty bad at the time and they had a 4 page thread of people just laughing about it, shite patter that.

Luckily for us it wasn't a serious injury and he's been bum raping them every game since. O0

if mj is right and they are playing woody through the pain barrier then ramos wants shooting.

their season is over, they moght as well play their two jokers at the back for the rest of the season and just see it out (dawson and kaboul).

makes me laugh that the buzz for ramos has died down now, he did well to win the cup but he has been pretty average aside from that imo, and if he is playing woody through the pain barrier then the bloke is as thick as mince.

It's sad, because he's been cut down by injury at the point when his career was really starting to take off. I'm sure if he'd stayed fit, he's have been a permanent fixture in the England team as a defensive midfield player by now.

Ledley King gets red card from nightclub in action replay of Carling Cup victory fracas

Last updated at 18:55pm on 2nd April 2008

Football star Ledley King was thrown out of a West End nightclub after becoming embroiled in a row with a fellow clubber.

The star had been partying hard at celebrity hangout Funky Buddha when the incident occurred last night.

The scenes were reminiscent of last month where the 27-year-old was escorted out of Faces nightclub in Essex after he and fellow Tottenham stars went on a 36-hour bender following their Carling Cup win.

King was said to have "gone berserk" after being removed from the nightspot when he became too drunk to stand up.

One onlooker said at the time: "He was clearly the worse for wear and could barely stand up. He got very angry when the bouncers got him outside.

"He's a very big lad and they were having trouble keeping him under control. He looked completely out of it."

But this time round a bleary-eyed King left in a much calmer manner and a friend was on hand to put him in a car and take him home.

Coincidence? I think not.

Going drinking after winning a trophy. Disgrace, tbh.

It's a different one, from Wednesday night, looks like he's got the same outfit on though.

The picture is from the previous incident, the report is from him being out on the lash recovering from a long-standing knee injury this Tuesday though.

If his season's over though, where's the harm? He's already played his major part in helping them win a cup (spit).

Not defending Spurs or King in particular, just don't understand why a player can't drink if they're injured?

I hope you're right though, in fairness, if the lad does drink like a fish and it does affect his ability to stay fit, then he wants a slapping with the money he's on. He doesn't seem the sort, mind, and is one of the few Spurs players who I thought would have a "proper" attitude.

I agree tbh. I'm quite happy to take the piss out of Spurs players about it though. If it were one of our players there'd be mass rightious indignation about it.
