I know that it's pre-season and the result doesn't matter at all, but it sounds like the kind of thing that generally worries me about Enrique.

Hoping he learns from it.

He seems to cause himself more problems than the opposition do.

No need to try and overplay it so much, just get rid.

it's a f***ing friendly ffs, some fan's need to chill out, it's all about fitness not results or performances

he's making an observation ffs

of course it''s about perfirmances

performance's, we had 2nd game of pre season, 1/2 first team out, and now because 1 player made a mistake he want's out

Where did anyone say "he wants out", whatever that means?

It's a relevant observation. Nobody is panicking, just making a general point about Enrique's game which was highlighted again in today's game.

What Baggio means when he types "No need to try and overplay it so much, just get rid." the lad should whack the ball away instead of fannying around with it

.com don't sound very impressed:

Purple Pain

Doncaster Rovers  1  Newcastle  0

Newcastle made their first-ever trip to the Keepmoat Stadium of Doncaster Rovers today in scorching conditions but the weather was the day's only bright spot.

A goal from Stuart Elliott (not the former Mag) with three minutes to go won the game for Rovers while our defence played statues.

It was an absolutely awful performance from our purple-clad rabble, even given that it was a friendly in July with a number of absentees.

Last week's hat-trick man, Damien Duff could barely cross the halfway line and our front pairing of Shola Ameobi and Alan Smith were just embarrassing, barely Championship standard.

And wearing 46 in defence was Sebastien Bassong, on trial from Metz, which obviously caught out a fair few Toon fans.

Revisiting the Brian Pinas "Wotsie" episode at Birmingham in 1997, Newcastle fans sang, "There's only one 46" and "46 give us a wave".

Bassong didn't respond, being French he probably had no idea what they were on about....

There was little else to distract the away following in a desperate first 45 minutes.

Tim Krul replaced Steve Harper after 57 minutes and at that point Newcastle still hadn't managed a shot on target.

David Edgar came on for Cacapa some minutes later and went to right back with Steven Taylor reverting to the centre of defence.

After 73 minutes a lame effort straight at the 'keeper from Ameobi became our first real effort on goal. Five minutes later Ben Tozer replaced Geremi.

Krul made two reasonable stops to keep it scoreless but our lot could only be described as abject.

The continued absence of Jonas Gutierrez ended up being the main talking point - a triallist was eligible while someone we have paraded as a new signing remains inelligible.

Lord knows we needed him....

NUFC: Harper (Krul 57), Taylor, Enrique, Cacapa (Edgar 64), Bassong, N'Zogbia, Duff, Guthrie, Geremi (Tozer 78), Ameobi, Smith.

Crowd: tbc including Sir Bobby Robson.

Not sure why so much is being made of Jonas not playing. The club clearly stated when he signed that he wouldn't feature until Valencia.

"Tim Krul replaced Steve Harper after 57 minutes and at that point Newcastle still hadn't managed a shot on target." :jesuswept:

Now why doesn't that surprise me?

Just seen the goal. Jose gets barged off the ball with a nudge in the back.

Also saw x-junior Mag Calvin Zola score 3 goals for Crewe. Calvin Zola a few years ago when he was playing for Oldham was Paul Scholes favorite player

That was a funny episode that day, what wasn't funny was the realisastion that it was Sir Les' last game for us.He threw his shirt into our end.

Duff, Smith and Ameobi.

Of the front six, only Guthrie and Charlie should be anywhere near the first team with Geremi potentially making the bench. The rest can rot.

It beggars belief that anyone thinks we're ok for forward cover.

Worst thing is it would seem Smith and Duff will have a big part to play in our season which is very worrying

Just got back from the match.

Bassong (or number 46 as we all affectionately knew him as) was ok, didn't panic on the ball and looked fairly calm. I'd hardly call him prolific though. Based on this match I reckon he might be worth a punt. Guthrie wasn't as good as he was coming on at Hartlepool but made some fairly nice passes of the ball.

A lot of justified banter gets thrown towards Shola, but at least he attempted to have a bit of a go today in his own bumbling way. Alan Smith is a fucking disgrace. As a mag behind me said, he's got no instinct.

For the Krul fans, he made one or two half decent saves.

Overall we played pretty poor, but half lpatches in their half and stringing passes together. Our lack of goal threat and poor crosses from Duff and Geremi all afternoon highlighted our need for ammunition for the strikers.

Yeah I was going to say something along those lines but didn't really have to say anymore. If Owen, Martins or Viduka are injured at any point in the season then we are not going to score any goals simple as. And to top it all off that is one of the most injury prone attacks about. It is worrying.

Someone has just qouted KK on the realistic transfer thread saying midfield and strikers are fine we just need fullback cover

If that is true then we are in for one poor season

That was the general gist of what he was saying.

Hope he's bluffing like. :hmm:
