It's Sunday, it's half twelve, it's number one... it's ASHLEY TO SELL UP!

Recommended Posts

lots of knicker wetting again defending mike's intentions. Selling the club for that money gets him all his money back, including paying off the ground. He would be a fool to turn it down. Most of the things he has done has suggested he was making the club a saleable item rather than a long term success on the field.

We will see, but if I were him, I'd take it. And if the owner is someone like this, and he's geninely interested in the football, then its for the best.

I thought it was more just everyone reacting to the press and the reporting again. From what I can see there is a lot of gossip and not a lot of substance again and the press have decided that Ashley is selling again.

If there is anything in it it appears that it is purley just a conversation might take place and I woudl go from what Ashley is quoted as saying in the past and it could mean further investment and not a buy out

Bottom line is that unless and until such a time that Newcastle United becomes a fan-owned cooperative organisation, we will always be at the behest of venture capitalists looking for a quick buck. I wouldn't blame Ashley for wanting to realise his assets now, given the way the economy is going. Newcastle United represents a higher than average risk investment, and it's been good of him to rescue us from the mismanagement of the Shepherd era, but beyond that his involvement has never looked that durable as a longer-term prospect.

I like how Curry (guffaw) went on and on about how we as a club are really unstable and what we need is a bit of stability. What, you mean like NOT selling the club? Fucking clueless.

I'd rather not have Indian millionaires running the club, thanks.

Nor would I, but them multi-billionaires are a different matter

:)

seriously though, I don't consider myself ready to become a supporter of money laundering schemes and people who probably have never seen a football game live..

fuck the money man, I'd rather face years of mediocrity under Ashley or even Shepherd

Money-laundering?

This isn't some gangster. Nor even a dodgy politician like the tosser at Citeh. The guy is the boss of one of India's leading companies – leading in everything from textiles and petrochemicals to retail and telecoms. In a country of one billion people. The amounts he could move through Newcastle are tiny compared to his overall wealth. We're not even big enough to launder his fucking socks.

which proves even you can talk sense when you try  ;D

NUFC is a joke. Everyone hates us. Players won't sign for us. And we're only the 6th best looking fans in the Premiership. Gutted.

Just re-read  the story.

So Steve McMahon is the man in Singapore advising these supposed possible investors. I would love to speak to him to gain an insight into his vast knowledge of Newcaste United

"I really hope that this is true and we can see the end of Ashley and his penny pinching bean counters.

I hope the new owner has the presence of mind to bring back Freddie, people might not like Fred but at least he delivered the 5th best team over a decade and got us our best ever CL finish, fact.

Any new owner must beat 4th, 3th, 5th and 7th place in the league or he's a penny pinching failure, double fact."

:lol::lol:

NE5 no doubt.

Baggio tbh.

Amusing either way.

Why am I getting the blame for everything?!

Reliance Com. Would see us as a very interesting vehicle to develop thier global telcom brand. That's all I'm saying, wouldn't dismiss this out of hand.

I've seen no evidence anywhere that this Anil Ambani guy has any interest in football, by the way.

Ashley is a Billionaire businessman and I guess it may have come out in the business world that we was going to talk to these 2 groups. Would always happen that every other business interest he has doesnt matter 1 jot. Anything he ever does now in the future HAS to do with NUFC

Not dismissing anything out of hand, mate. Nor am I joining the ranks of other posters who are firmly in the "in denial" camp. This is the reality of where we are now. We are nothing more than a cash cow for rich industrialists and wheeler-dealer barrow-boys on the make...the club is nothing more than a whore pimped out for commercial gain by fat cat greedy wankers so they can get even richer at our expense. This is the realpolitik of top flight football these days.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but surely the richer the person, the less point there is in buying a football club to make money? As far as I can see, the sport is awash with money, but most of it comes in and goes straight out. The clear profit being made would be small fry for Ashley, never mind someone with so much more money.

The point I'm making is that Ashley surely bought us for 'fun'; purely for something to do? So why would he be so desperate to sell up every other week?

Personally I wouldn't want an Abramovich-style spending spree anyway, despite the media assuming (as a Newcastle fan) that I would.

£260 million.. they don't even have the brains to make it sound at least semi believable, but then this is the News of the World, basically a collection of rather poorly written fables

As if Ashley's going to be interested in selling up for a profit of £30 million..  :idiot2:
