Mate on the Chron says they expect him to go - but that he'll be pushed rather than jump.

If he was sacked it would be even more ridiculous. Ashley wouldn't win himself many popularity awards if that were to happen to say the least.

If he goes Ashley's position will become untenable.

Erm, he owns the club.

Aye but I wouldn't like turning up for work being peleted with eggs and half eaten steak bakes each morning

He's a big lad, he'll probably not mind the steak bakes.

Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan has been holding talks with the club's board on Monday, BBC Radio Newcastle understands.

Reports have suggested that Keegan has been unhappy as speculation mounts over his future at St James' Park.

The club's only business on transfer deadline day was a £5.7m swoop for Spain's Xisco and the loan signing of midfielder Ignacio Gonzalez.

Keegan, 56, made a dramatic return to Tyneside in January.

More soon.

The meeting has to be on the lines of Keegan wanting more control over the transfer policy because the current set up just isnt working.

Give him a transfer budget and let him get on with it instead of Wise/Jimenez/Vetere.

Doubt it's true, but Ashley does comes across as a bit of a bellend.

Based on previous that's an accusation that could just as easily be aimed at Keegan.  Whatever you think of him, he has got a history of throwing his toys out of the pram and walking.

Remember that Spanish manager they kept linking us with, I forget his name, but he was free at the start of the summer. Did he ever get a job then?

Marcelino. Quality manager, and the next big thing in Spain, but said at the time although he wants to come to England eventually, this wasnt the right time for family reasons. Think he ended up at Zaragota or somewhere.

And then the day after the transfer window we're already waiting for the next one to open so we can do it properly like we should have done in the fucking first place, brill.

All ifs and buts, but if Keegan had agreed to sell Barton, I wonder if they had a replacement lined up for him?

Nor sure how true it is, but last night Sky (David Craig) claimed the Barton deal was a swap deal with the other unnamed club, for another player (also unnamed).

However, it fell through as to quote david craig "'they wanted £4m as well as the player", but it wasn't clear whether 'they' was us wanting £4m + a player for Barton, or if the other club wanted us to give them Barton + £4m for the other player.

Suppose we'll never know.

And I really couldn't blame him this time
