Guest
Darren Ambrose would be a good signing. Good cover for both wings and an option through the centre. i just don't think he has enough for the prem. As a regular, not a chance imo. This is probably his first good season since 2003-4 when he had a regular run when Nobby left. As cover in a side who's goal is survival though, I think he'd be a good option.
madras
a bit of this. it's felt like this season has been one long friendly for him. I don't think any of our players have had me off my seat more than Jonas this season. enrique and routledge latterly.......................but like you originally said "if he's up for it" and quite often this season he's seeemed like he's been playing friendlies. merlin
If I had the choice of who to replace Jonas with, I would go for Wright-Phillips ; far more pacey, and creates more danger in the box(witness his impact on Saturday;s game with Villa). Sadly, I don't think NUFC would pay his wages or likely fee, and doubt that the player would come to SJP. Players like Ambrose are no better than what we have. GuyP
tbf itd annoy me if Ambrose cost more than what we sold him for (which is likely to be more than the £1.5mil) though with admin for Palace who knows, but woulda been helped if theyed gone down, who else better than us woulda been after him? wages would be championship level too i assume, though maybe he is in that annoying level of abaility between championship and premiership (see Earnshaw and Chopra)

I agree however with more pressing issues which tend to cost a lot of money (Forward and centre mid) and a first choice right back we might have to buy a couple of back up players and Ambrose would be pretty cheap. Obviously it isn't ideal but old Mikey isn't likely to go on much of a spending spree.

TaylorJ_01
As I said a few days ago, if Jonas had the end product we wanted, he'd be at a top Champions League club valued at £20m+. he did have in spain when he was the main supply line for that mallorca forward who went to turkey....guido or guiso or somesuch. i just dont think he's an authadox winger (like ginola wasn't). What an unothodox way of spelling orthodox. Anyway, as I said before, he prefers playing on his weaker foot. The system we use is either he cuts in to cross (or he should) or lays it to Enrique to cross with the left. Works well but if Enrique is out it fails miserably. If you had, maybe you would have had a proper comment to make. 1 - Man City won't want to sell him 2 - If they do sell him they'll want £8m+ 3 - Ashley won't pay his £50,000+ wages 4 - If by some miracle we stump up £8m for him and the money for his wages, he won't want to join us. tmonkey
30 next year, stay clear. At this stage in his career if a rival CL hopeful isn't interested in paying a decent fee + his chunky wages, then clubs like ours should run a mile due to the considerable risk of being lumbered with a has-been on a big contract. Would therefore fall into the exact same category as the likes of Owen and Duff back when we signed them (and suffered the consequences).
David28
from .com. He's been shoplifting http://nufc.com/2009-10images/spiderman-shoplifter.jpg Sunday's season-closing victory was achieved with the contribution of Jonas Gutierrez, Chris Hughton having confirmed beforehand that he had been granted an early release in order to return to his family in Argentina. However, it seems as if Spiderman took the scenic route back to South America - stopping off in Australia and donning his superhero disguise to foil a shoplifter! (in reality the masked man was a 45 year old comic book fan who spotted someone pinching from the shop he was appearing in and raised the alarm story here)
olliemort
People will never learn ,Wright-Phillips is the exact player we SHOULD NOT sign!Picks up niggly injurys, inconsitent, overpriced, only would be coming here for one thing...cash!Which he wouldnt get half what he wants,so pointless even talking about him.We have being stung many times before..see Duff,Owen.... bodson
Jonas plays right back for Argentina and he is probably comfortable on the left back position aswell. Maybe ha could be used in the backline for us aswell? I can see it be good to be honest.

If we had a someone to replace him on the wing then maybe but i'd prefer to keep him where he is and buy a specialised RB.

A left-winger playing in his position
