So who's going to buy the club?

Recommended Posts

Transfer 1: - Takeover in May - Mort did all of Allardyce's transfers so plenty time. One or two good buys but Allardyce notes lack of urgency in negotiations which he pits down to lack of football knowledge. No sense of trying to make a mark on a newly acquired business (cf Man City)- more a sense of muddling along.

Transfer2: Allardyce was sacked on the 8th iirc = therefore no identification or sounding out of targets were done for when the window opened. If it was intended to not trust him with money then they should have sacked him earlier - amateurish.

Transfer 3 - two good buys and a couple of maybes. Balanced by one good and one decent sale. Minimal improvement in squad quality and no improvement in depth or addressing of key areas. Also included attempts to sell remaining decent players with no replacements. No realistic chance of league position improvement beyond one or two places - an absolute fucking disgrace.

The transfer windows were shite, we should have let Dyer go for £4 million and Milner go for £6 million and should have paid £11 million for Jonas, we would have spent £21 million more and everybody would be happy.  Where we've gone wrong is doing deals which were actually good for the club.

Extra £5m or £6m which now won't be spent, might still have to pay that for Jonas.

Don't care about money (though it is a measure) but care about numbers/quality.

Transfer window 1: Allardyce in limbo as takeover happens

Transfer window 2: Keegan joins just a few days before it shuts

Transfer window 3: Happy with it overall, pissed off we didn't replace Milner, or use the money from his sale

Not enough there to go on to display lack of ambition. Had Woodgate and Modric joined us, you wouldn't be talking about fucking ambition

But Woodgate and Modric didnt sign did they. Isnt that the problem?

This is a strange one in light of the tone of today's other stories:

Newcastle's future starts to look brighter as buyer closes in on St James' Park

Comments (0) Add to My Stories Mike Ashley's reign as owner of Newcastle United could be over by the end of the month and certainly by the turn of the year.

The long drawn-out sale is nearing its close, with one particular buyer reaching the stage of due diligence.

The news will end the uncertainty which has gripped the Tyneside outfit since Ashley announced in the wake of Kevin Keegan's resignation seven weeks ago that he wanted out.

Newcastle United insiders say Joe Kinnear has got it wrong over claims Mike Ashley is ready to take the club off the market.

Kinnear caught Newcastle's top brass by surprise when he claimed on Friday that Ashley was not selling the club and that all would be revealed at a meeting after the game with Chelsea in three weeks' time.

A United source told the People: "A meeting? That is news to us. As far as we are concerned Mike Ashley is trying to sell the club and talks are on-going with several interested parties."

If that's true and it's all part of Kinnear's plan to get a longer contract then it looks like we'll be needing another temporary manager soon.

Could it not simply be a case there's nothing to report at the minute?

Only a moron would believe a word coming from anybody from the management team at the Toon. Doesn't matter who it is and the reporters clearly have no idea what's going on.....if anything at all.

Bottom of the league no permanent manger no real intersted parties to own us. Things are getting real bad.... Never worried more about NUFC like this....

Tbf since SBR left ive been worried, there has been a few mini highs but on a whole its been a steady downfall. Each year we seem to scrape throu, past 4-5 years has been torture. The way things are its just a matter of time til we go down if not this season then probably next.

Though we might get bought by someone decent.  The next few weeks are a genuinely pivotal time for the club.  I'm naturally inclined to be optimistic so I'm hoping for a new owner.  nothing has depressed me more over the last few years though than JFK saying he was hoping to stay and ship out foreign players and bring in Championship players.  If Ashley stays this must not be the way we go.

Throw the mackems in there as well as boro. Any three from those six which includes us.

That's not to say there aren't teams with worse players than us but they are better organised and motivated by and large.
