Charles N'Zogbia

SÉBASTIEN Bassong is convinced Charles N’Zogbia will stay at Newcastle United despite the youngster’s previous attempts to leave St James’s Park.

So many conflicting repoerts on Zoggy, and his inyerview on the official site is not words spoken by a player thnking of leaving. I would love Sakho here but not if it means losaeing Zogg thats not progress we should be loking to have both players here.

Doesn't sound like he wants to leave here: -

Charles N'Zogbia eyes Premier League top 10

Dec 23 2008 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

CHARLES N’ZOGBIA has set his sights on being in the top 10 to see in 2009 in real style.

The flying French winger has been in good form since returning to the first-team picture, and is currently keeping out Damien Duff after an indifferent start to life under Joe Kinnear.

The Toon boss restricted N’Zogbia to a bit-part role, but is now giving the Harfleur-born star his fair share of first-team action.

And the man who is one of the legacies from Sir Bobby Robson’s reign at St James’s Park, is repaying Big Joe with some sparkling displays.

Like his wing rival Duff, N’Zogbia was on target against Tottenham – a side who tried to sign him last season – and now the French Under-21 star is keen to climb up the table.

He told the Chronicle: “I didn’t like to look at the table too much earlier in the season.

“You just try to win a lot of games and give your all.

“And if you do that you stay out of trouble.

“Going into a new year it would be a great boost to get back into the top 10 and then see what we can do in the second half of the season.

“Hopefully the bad times are behind us.”

N’Zogbia has vowed to keep on working hard in training and knuckle down on a match day to keep his first-team place.

And despite some intense competition for places, he feels it can only be good for the club for Kinnear to have his full roster of players back fit and available for action.

He said: “We have some great players here at Newcastle.

“And we can go higher in the table.

“Joe has helped us and we have picked up points under him.”

Sides like Aston Villa and Boxing Day opponents Wigan Athletic have both kept tabs on N’Zogbia’s situation at St James’s Park, but the player seems settled on Tyneside.

And he underlined his commitment to the club by saying that he doesn’t mind being fielded out of position if it is the name of the Newcastle United.

After opening the scoring , N’Zogbia finished the game at left-back after Jose Enrique ran out of steam in the closing stages.

He added: “I don’t mind playing left-back.

“It’s no problem – if somebody is down I will step in and help the team.”

Apparently France Football claim we've already told PSG they can have N'Zogbia if they give us Sakho.

Zoggy is a brilliant player, will be gutted if he leaves.

Sakho is quite a player though, doubt they'll trade him for Zoggy.

He isn't a brilliant player though, he's had about half a dozen really good games in the past 3 years.

He told L'Equipe: "After four years at Newcastle, I want to reach a higher level of ambition. I don't think that is possible here.

is this new? i thought he had an interview with l'equipe like last month

I hope he stays too, at least until the end of the season.  I think he dribbles down too many blind alleys and the club should look to upgrade after the season but he's the best we have right now and it looks like the team is starting to come together so having him go, even if we were to get a suitable replacement in the window would still be problematic, IMO.

Just a little bit confused here. Is there a new interview or is there a rehash of the 'news' from October/November?

Probably a rehash.

Zog doesn't like half the team, for whatever reason. It's quite clear after he scores he has no interest in celebrating the goal with certain players. I don't know if there's cliques in the dressing room or if it's just Zoggy. The latter I suspect.

Yeah. I thought that after watching his goal back on Sunday. He just seemed to throw Guthrie out of the way when he tried to celebrate with him. Acted like a bit of a cunt really.

I noticed that as well. Cliques work both ways though. If Zog is part of one clique who is part of the other...and more importantly are they the shit players who no other club wants to pay money for?
