Owen 8 in 28 .

Martins 8 in 24.

Martins on almost half the wages owen was on,

Fook owen.  Good riddance , glad he's moving to man utd.  Now the Owen fanboys have no more excuses when he fails yet again.

fair play to the lad though, the brochures clearly worked.

Of course, no-one ever remembers that it was Keegan who made him captain and everyone after him, Kinnear, Hughton and Shearer didn't have enough sense to take the armband off him and give it to someone who at least looked like they gave a shit

Not as bitter as some re: his goalscoring etc, but as a captain he was a fucking shambles

Surely this post should include good riddance to Martins as well then?

Clearly not a wind up.

He's pointing out how weak our creative department was last year.

The same creative department that allowed a Danish journeyman to outscore our supposed superstar?

Owen is washed up as a player and a pathetic weasel of a man.

But most importantly, he's gone. Fuck off Michael. And if God is kind, Vidic will break both of your legs in the first training session.

So bitter :****(

Thank you, yes, I am. Very much so. Thank you

EDIT: Good of you to address the Lovenkrands comparison too...

Didn't outscore Owen though http://www.otf2.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

He did in the time both were at the club. Ie since January...

EDIT: And since you blamed the creative department for Owen's poor return, it is entirely valid to compare what another striker can produce with exactly the same supply

Minutes on pitch/starts/role of players/starting 11's/oppositions played if we want to get into a serious comparison.

Owen was a passenger in the team for much of the 2nd half of last season.

He offered little up front, didn't create space for other players, was completely unable to hold the ball up for other players to join the attack and when he did get chances to score he fluffed them.

From January onwards we could have played with 10 men in most games and we'd have struggled to notice the difference.

As club captain he should have been leading the other players with his determination to keep the club in the league, instead he shrank from the task appearing more interested in keeping himself injury free for his summer transfer culminating with his "groin strain" before the Fulham game (the one that mysteriously vanished soon after the season finished) forcing a clearly unfit Martins to play with a pain-killing injection for his own groin strain.

True.  Ferguson has missed a trick by getting Owen instead of Lovenkrands.

Stick to Martins-bashing mate, at least you're making some valid points in that thread...

Where does it matter where he is gone?

HE IS GONE, GONE GONE GONE. Never to return. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

It's not like we've been dumped for another club, it's what, a years pay as you play?

He'll be hated by Liverpool fans, if he does shit, by the Man United fans, universally hated.

I just hope he does fuck all, and misses out to Crouch for the World Cup Squad. If it goes wrong, it's a gamble for him, at least he's close to his horses though eh.

Can't believe he has signed for them.... don't really care he will get injured and won't last the season anyway. Fergie has nothing at all to lose so can see why he did it. They will surely be signing a top class striker anyway so where will that leave the little shite? Fuck him and good riddance.

I take it your not bothering with your comparison?

Clutching at straws tbh

edit: the above post is so bitter it's raining lemons :*****(

Correct, I'm not bothering to research the five months of matches in order to win an internet argument. I have the evidence of my own eyes.

But maybe you might wonder why Alan Shearer chose Viduka and Martins over Owen with the club's Premiership future on the line?
