They didn't do particularly well, but they didn't comfortably exit the competition, either. The reason why we went through on 9 points was because 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the table all took points of each other unlike in City's where every team took 6 points off Villareal. Also comfortably out the CL in the group stages. Comfortably out? They finished 10 points ahead of 4th and a point behind 2nd. Stop telling fibs. They didn't deserve to go through. Could've easily lost at home to Napoli and comfortably beaten away by Bayern and Napoli. There's a limit to how great a side can be when they play Gareth Barry all the time.
