Disco
I wouldn't sell him for any money tbh. That's certainly not because I think he's that good, more that we wouldn't be able to replace him (for a variety of reasons). And it would be a pathetic and unforgivable lack of ambition that as soon as we get ourselves a good young player we're selling him. agreed plus there is no evidence the money received would go back out plus who'd we buy? LucaAltieri
Fair points. Ashley has always been open about his "everyone has a price tag" approach. Can just imagine he's sitting at home watching Carroll's price slowly creep up with every pundit superlative. I don't think Ashley would take £20m, for what it's worth. We tend to sell for a decent price.

midds
If he keeps on getting better then he's going to be in demand sooner rather than later though. Every player at every club has got his price and if City or whoever start bidding for him eventually we'll accept and he'll go. Don't want to sell him but this is the game. I'm confused how you think he was second choice at the time? He was our first choice, he was their first choice and he was Irelands first choice. Fenham Mag
Quite a good warmup for the weekend, he would have been very frustrated with that and can see him getting a goal or 2 at the weekend.

Skirge
Fab had to be impressed with him and pissed off with the wide men, surely picking Carroll means you plan on getting wide and banging in crosses, all Milner & Theo did was come inside. Shame for Carroll but he did well with what he got, he looked okay so lets hope he is fine for Bolton.

Hyperbole to point out he wasn't "the best in the league". Less than a year on and he's their second choice. Before leaving Newcastle there were also regular proposals to give Harper a run in the team (ask Midds). Generally considered to be on the decline. He wanted to leave, City made an offer, we took it. We weren't exactly in a very strong negotiating position. Same for N'Zogbia. Instead of focusing on two relatively low transfer fees, have a look at the rest of them. We were ecstatic about Milner and Bassong's fees, were we not?

Nobody
Not a single decent cross into the box during the time he was on the pitch, fucking pathetic display from the midfielders.
