jdckelly
the problem with those saying new deal for carroll should have been given (if any are saying it) is what if a wage rise to 60k plus then summer rolls round, interest from lets say chelsea or man u offering him even more cash, what was to stop him from asking for same again
Guest neesy111
Not 2 Months after signing a new one. Because ? He wasnt being valued at 35m two months ago Don't care, football clubs should be offering contracts every 2 months to players. Just strikes as pure greed from him and his agent to use the whole situation to their advantage and it backfired.
Jayson
Not 2 Months after signing a new one. Because ? He wasnt being valued at 35m two months ago Well accroding to Carroll himself he was negotiating a contract before the 30 million bid even came in so your point is moot. After spurs had just offered 25m ? I dont fully believe he was having talks about a contract previous to that either, i think hes just wording it cleverly. SUPERTOON
He has to have more than 6 good months of football to be worth anywhere over 30k. He hasn't and isn't worth it.

SGSC
Anyone reading those quotes from Carroll can't still believe he's in the wrong here. Yes, he might be talking s*** as well, but it's impossible to believe the club's side of the story here when they've lied about virtually everything since they Ashley took over. WHAT!!!! Carroll has said he asked for a new contract AFTER liverpool had made a bid, in a bid to get more money from the whole saga which just strikes as utter greed from him and his agent. Now hold on a second here. Did he say anything about the terms of that contract? Couldn't the new contract be considered an indication that he wasn't interested in going? After 2 months after signing one. That should be enough in anyone's book. You only ask for a new contract after signing one 2 months earlier for MONEY! Of course a new contract is about money but his value has basically gone from next to nothing to 30 odd million in a year. He's our best and most important player and yet he's on 30k a week, while others are on a lot more. I think i'd be asking for a new contract as well. He just signed a new contract. If he wasnt happy with it, he shouldnt have fucking signed it. It's not right to coem back 2 months later and ask for another one. May as well get the whole squad doing it. Flip
f*** after all the club has done for this kid, he goes behind our backs and asks for a new f***ing contract. 3 Months ago he got a new contract, if he wasn't happy then why did he sign it? When he was in court, the club captain took him home and helped him out. How does he repay everyone? By f***ing us over, he's a f***ing judas and that's it. Enough, everyone knows Ashleys a t***, but Carroll has now joined that club. They're equally stupid, but on this one I'm on Ashleys hand. We got £36 million for a player barely worth half of it (talentwise) I know that if you look on how important he is we shouldn't have sold, but now its done and we mugged Liverpool anyways. At least it wasn't for like £15 million, it was £35 million. FFS he's not the 8th best player of all time, he wasn't even the 8th best player in this league. it's over move forward, blame Ashley, Derek, Andy, whoever, it wont change the fact that he's gone. I think Carroll has doe the right thing IF he did ask for a newer inproved contract. He'll be thinking £35m footballers are paid more than £30k pw so why should he be different. Common sense should have seen the Club deny both the bid and the request with a promise to renogotiate in the summer. But, you're correct he's gone now so - onwards and upwards. I agree with you that maybe if you look at todays football salaries he deserves better than £30k a week, but tell me why did he sign a new one in October then? Feels quite pointless doesn't it? If he had turned it down and asked for money then fine, but he was happy with it. He only has himself to blame. Now he has collected a good signing-on-fee for the new contract signing, and now for the transfer to liverpool as well as trippling his wage. Money is all for him to be honest. Contracts mean very little now, we've all known this for ages. A players worth is determined by what you have to do to keep hold of them & whether you're willing to do it. If the likes of Chelsea & Man utd are offering him ridiculous terms, then why would it be silly for us to do the same? When he signed his contract means very little. Exiled in Texas
I said it earlier. But say tottenham were offered 35m for VDV instead at that point in the window. Do you think theyd have sold him? Heck, Yes they would. See Spurs/Berbatov! Harry/Spurs are the ultimate wheeler/dealer buy low/sell high club that turn their assets over to the betterment of the club.

He wasnt being valued at 35m two months ago tiote will now be valued at more than 3.5mill, jose at more than 6mill....should they bang on the door for a new contract after any good run of form ? When he signed the new contract he'd played 7 Prem games and that contract had probably been going on for a while, he's come a long way in short space of time. He's probably best striker in Prem based on his form before he got injured, I think this is very different circumstances from any of our other players. NUFC put him on a new contract after his good form in the championship as well, also he only had a couple of years left on his current one. Not almost 5 years. BlueStar
Straws to clutch at - Potentially injury prone - Likely to get nicked/fail a drugs test/crash his car/fall off a stool drunk - May be one of those players who was going to be the next big thing but never realised his potential - Might do the same to the scousers, use them as a stepping stone and fuck off to Chelsea, Man City or Real as soon as he can (Sell on fee included in the 'add-ons'?) Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Alan Pardew's presser is strongly suggesting that Andy Carroll's agent pushed Carroll towards Liverpool. This back and forth is going to go on for some time.

If they were offered 35m at the same point in the window. Meaning they couldnt have had any time to replace him. Maybe they would, i think its debatable again. Either way theyre actually in a much better position with the type of names they have in their squad to be able to do that & be able to replace him with more quality. SGSC
Not 2 Months after signing a new one. Because ? He wasnt being valued at 35m two months ago Are you kidding me? Say Barton signed a new contract a month ago aproximately, and a club like Man City came in and bid $20 million for him, that would justify him coming knocking for a new and improved contract. It doesnt mean shit if they are suddenly valued higher. You just signed a new contract, now honour the thing.

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
If rumours about the severity of his injury are accurate, we'd have been without him regardless of what happened in the transfer window. ryanegg
Some people need to have a word with themselves, Carroll is worth way more than 30 grand a week, the new contract should of been put in front of him straight away as soon as any bid come in. If any of you were one of the hottest propeties in football and someone had put in a £30m bid in for you, while still being on 30 grand a week, you'd feel a bit cheated by your employers not offering you better terms to match that value. This has got more to do with Ashley cashing in on an asset rather than Carroll wanting to leave, which could be a good move yet, but we'll to wait and see if Carroll carries on his fine form or if its just been a fluke.
