None of Beardsley’s former team-mates, players or coaching colleagues have come out in support of him since he was suspended last January. There have long been allegations about his unpopularity and the impact his negativity has on players.

Well that's a bit damning

I assume the under 23 coach isn't to replace Dawson? We'd be mad to ditch him after the work he's done.

He's being promoted - from the article:

Ben Dawson is also set to step up his role and move into a technical position overseeing other coaches.

Would love to have Steve Watson as the new U23 coach and Lee Clark to be part of the staff as well.

Why?

It's worked well having ex-players coaching our young players before...

If we can keep Ben Dawson, Liam Bramley and Neil Winskill together we'll have a great core of coaches focused on coach development as well as player development. They won't allow standards to drop.

I really don’t want him back, man. Unless he’s the best, most qualified person for the job he should be nowhere near us.

Sure there’s plenty of knowledgable coaches out there with cutting edge ideas just in need of the opportunity.

Yet we continue with the “jobs for the boys” mantra. Perhaps being a bit harsh on him given he’s not had a chance yet, but would be extremely surprised if he is the type of person to revolutionise our acaemdy.
