U23s & Academy

Lots of bright spots in u18’s game tonight. We had to work hard for our share of the ball and a lot of hard pressing and feisty tackling saw us on top for chunks of the second half.

We showed some really neat touches with quick and clever passing and moving to work space and open City up. Really thrilling to watch at times. Like I said we worked bloody hard to come back from two down but ultimately though a combination of City quality and us being a little gung ho let the point slip away. Similar to first team really where we look just as capable of battering a team as we do of conceding a boat load.

Stand outs were Sanusi who twisted and turned all game out wide to cause problems. Alfie Harrison on his second start. Grew into the game with the rest of the team and took his goal beautifully with a left foot finish into the bottom right. Began to show exactly what he did for City. Going past men at will, some nice touches and smart passing. Hit the post after a mazy run. Prob not quite ready for first team yet (cameos perhaps) but not far off with shows like this.

Shahar played in a midfield role similar to what Trippier does for first team, but he went off at half time, Munda came on and looked assured as usual.

How long before we see Sanusi getting a subs appearance?

I wouldn’t say this season just simply because I don’t think there’s a path for him with Barnes and Willock coming back. He’s only 16 so not sure if physically ready for men’s football. He shows some sparkles and works very hard front and back, could prob add more goals and assists. He’s fine where he is right now. He’s in a similar boat to Diallo. Both rapid, tricky wingers, Diallo perhaps slightly ahead. Put it this way I’d rather they stayed with us and came off the bench than went out on loan.

agree with this, i was there last night as im working in Manchester and thought we were the better team overall

Really liked the look of Darren Palmer, Harrison and Munda when he came on looked a really calm and collected player.

Sanussi full of tricks but needs to hit the gym (again im aware he is only a youngun so plenty time to fill out)

The 16 year old lad who scored the first 2 for city looks a real player, expect to see him on a premier league pitch soon

Citys training ground and academy setup is unreal, all of their staff were so friendly and down to earth as well

Papa Heskey was also there watching his bairn

Just been absolutely humped 1-7 at home to their Chelsea counterparts.

People wondering why we didn't put the kids in like Klopp.

It was 2-1 at half time. Hell of a collapse.

Top 5 all London clubs. How times have changed.

Read "something in the water" and it will make sense.

Essentially it's

- poverty

-multiculturalism

-access to facilities

-level of competition

- population density

The hotbeds of the north are drying up, unable to complete with the perfect mix that south London in particular provides. Our very own tino is of that stock and it shows. Fearless.

Positive - Trevan Sanusi scored again. All lot of the talk is how he looked great but needed more goal involvements. Since then 2 goals

in 2 games.

Negatives - Everything fucking else.

Why they have not yet made a separate academy Twitter account I do not know, seems to invite unnecessary trolling

They have four players from their first team squad playing [emoji38]

Make that 6 according to this.

Don't even recognize half of our team.

Newcastle XI: Brown, R. Powell, Charlton, Thompson, Heffernan, J. Miley, Hackett, Stanton, Crossley, Harrison, Diallo

Subs: H.Powell, Harris, Palmer, Brayson, Parkinson

Sanusi not in the squad surely means he must be off to Dubai with the first team?

Couple of players missing by the looks of it. Sanusi, Leo Shahar and Alex Murphy.

Charlie McArthur too but maybe injured?
