Daily Mail's Top 50 Transfers of the season.

Yep, you've gussed it...... Bassong is not on there. (Although I'm not that bothered, want him to keep a low profile for obvious reasons)

They picked Palacios and Felliani in their top 10 (both cost over 10m!), and they've got the audacity to call their reporters a "team of experts". They even called the deals as the " cleverest pieces of business in the business." :mackems:

The likes of Corluka, Keane and Heskey are included ahead of him as well. Just makes me laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh. ;D

tbf, as great an improvement as he has been for us, it would be hard for a player who plays in the defence of a team that are 18th in the table, to be in the Top 50 transfers of the season

Geovanni's heroics in taking Hull to 17th in the table managed to get him to 7th best signing.  :kinnear:

The mail are the best for these arbitrary lists that bear no relation to reality. Sure they had one that included enrique as one of the flops of last season but didn't mention alan smith.

Don Cowie (who has done well and looks impressive for the fee) but no Mike Williamson (150kish and has been incredible). Plus the Bassong thing? Bit weird.

I'm sure Barton got worst signing of the season from one of these last year, but there was no mention for Smith. Baffling list, I try not to pay too much attention to these things.

As soon as I saw Keith Andrews and Paul Robinson in there I couldn't take it seriously. Also, SWP in the top 20, really?

If you only ever watch the highlights on Match of the Day or Goals on Sunday it'd be pretty easy to only see the best or worst of each player.

Bassong has been lucky a few times with penalty decisions that people have later highlighted and if those highlights were your only frame of reference then you'd think he was a pretty clumsy player.  Add to that our traditionally leaky defence and idiots will assume that he's one of the reasons for us conceding goals never seeing that he's probably responsible for our defence not being any worse.

Same goes for most of the players on the list, if you only ever see the best parts of their game you're going to believe that they're far better than they are, they see neat 5 minute highlight packages, they don't see the other 85 minutes where those players may do bugger all.

And Palacios was pretty much good until he signed for Spurs.

You've got some kind of complex with them my friend, Palacios has pretty much dragged them up the table by himself.  Would that we could sign a player who could play that 'badly' for us...

Come on. He's been very good for us, as had Modric. Corluka should be above both of them though imo.
