PROFITABLE GROUP CONFIRM INTEREST IN BUYING NEWCASTLE

David Craig says:

- 'Another' declared runner in the race, the Profitable Group

- "expressed an initial interest in buying the Club"

- "no direct talks have taken place with Llambias or Ashley"

- Formerly the "profitable plot company" went into liquidation, some of the directors from that are still in The Profitable Group

And now they've interrupted him, for news on Cristiano Ronaldo.

They really do sound like a bunch of jackies, best we keep clear of these jokers.

This is s***, they're f***ing going on and on about Ronaldo. I want to hear what news Craig had!

Wasnt it just to confirm the interest of that profitable group?

Well I thought there'd be something else, because that statement was released yesterday, so that doesn't really qualify as "breaking news".

The Profitable Group has confirmed its interest in buying Newcastle but says any potential bid is at an early stage.

The Singapore-based group says it has expressed an initial interest in the club but no direct talks have yet been held.

The company released a statement on its website to clarify the situation two days after it emerged that it was preparing to launch a bid to buy out Mike Ashley.

Confirming it has made contact with investment bankers Seymour Pierce, the statement read: "The Profitable Group can confirm that it has expressed an initial interest in acquiring Newcastle United.

Preliminary discussion

"A preliminary discussion with the representatives appointed to handle the sale of the club has been held, but contrary to some reports, no direct talks have been held with either the owner, Mike Ashley, or the chairman [sic], Derek Llambias.

"The group consider the leaking of the group's interest in this matter unfortunate, and as supporters of Newcastle United, seek only to serve in the best interests of the club, the fans and the local community.

"The group will not be making any further comment at the present time."

It is understood the Profitable Group has been in touch with Seymour Pierce chairman Keith Harris, although its is one of several parties to have done so with others at more advanced stages in their prospective bids.

Race

One of the 'three or four' groups acknowledged by managing director Llambias to be in the race earlier this week is thought to be South African-based, while another originates from Oman.

In addition, former chairman Freddy Shepherd has been linked with another consortium.

However, potential buyers with a genuine interest will have to sign non-disclosure agreements and prove they can come up with the money both to meet Ashley's £100million asking price and service the club's remaining debt before substantive talks can begin.

So there is still debt remaining and we'll not hear anything until it's all completed anyway.

Happy days.

Not sure about these lot now, seems like there's a lot of bollocks attached to them, scams & liquidation sounds pretty scary but then again Liverpool FC have themselves attached to them in business and the Scousers love a good moan about everything and we'd have heard from the by now.

The writing off of the debt was only ever punted in a newspaper artcle. So if thats the way it is he wants £100 million for the club and lets say another £115 million for his loan. A lot of money for a Championship club that has no manager and is in a state of chaos.

I think that £40m was an overdraft which we were waiting to see whether it would be agreed for us. I assume the club had plans to maybe use this overdraft to cover the excess costs for this season. If we didn't get promoted in one year this would change into a loan to Barclays instead. Doesn't mean the debt even exists yet.

Im not going to believe one article which knows noubt over another article which knows noubt so I'll just wait till the club is purchased before finding out whether there is any debt to service or not.

Just hope this will be done in a short period of time. As long as Mike Ashley owns the club, our chance of gaining promotion is extremely slim. We can't choose now, we just need to start planning the next season.

£5m bank loan was the only outside debt in the last set of accounts.

I don't believe that Ashley is expecting his loan to be paid by the way, nobody would even be interested if that was the case.

Four in frame to take over Newcastle United

Jun 11 2009 by Dan Warburton, Evening Chronicle

FOUR potential buyers are in the frame to take over Newcastle United.

A consortium represented by former chairman Freddy Shepherd is believed to have staged meetings with investment bankers Seymour Pierce yesterday.
