They've extended the deadline which is strange considering they'd already denied having a deadline for the club's sale in the first place.

Loans and Free Agents can be signed after the transfer window closes. It's not like we were going to pay to sign any one anyway. Let's just hope people like Lovenkrands and Campbell are still available by then.

hmm, it say's conclude funding arrangement's with barclays, so something may happen soon

Surely Ashley wouldn't put his neck on the line by announcing an extended deadline unless it was set to go through.

Just have to wait a bit longer.

Loven, Sol, Mifsud(?), Michael Ball. Loans. Woop de doo.

If Michael Ball is happy to sit on the bench then he'd offer good cover for Enrique. Sol would be a great signing, Loven would be a good partner for Shola at this level. Not sure about Misfud though.

Personally i'd like to see us bring a few in from Arsenal like Birmingham did.

Exactly, it doesn't say anything about what has and has not been agreed to date, either between Ashley and Moat and Moat and Barclays.

I'd imagine Ashley wanted to make a definitive decision by today on what was going to happen. As it happens things are not quite complete with Moat, so they have extended the 'deadline' beyond today.

I can't see how this statement is negative news. Moat wants the club, Ashley wants to sell him it, and there's a chance it could happen in time for a few days of transfer window activity should it come off. As I said before, it's not like Ashley would have bought anyone.

Extended by 7 days. Just in time to have an excuse why we've not bought anyone before the deadline slams shut ffs

Nail hit squarely on it's head and allows Ashkey time to asset strip even further by selling jonas, taylor, collocini and enrique.

also moat must have the 100 million to buy the club or ashley wouldn't bother extending the deadline, so it is positive news that he still wants to sell

So if the club had been taken off the market today you think Ashley would have bought anyone? When we don't even have a manager?

Give your heads a shake ffs.

Ah right, so Radio Newcastle were wrong, all those papers saying Barclays had given a decision one way or another were wrong, and all those papers saying the annoucnement would be Ashley is staying were wrong (for now)

And yet people still think everything reported is gospel.

negative things are gospel. some people just love a good moan.

Maybe - but theres hardly been any good news for years - please name ANY in the last 5 years.

Its not an accident that most bad news turns out to be right, and good news NOT where this club is concerned.

In the overall scheme of things this sounds like the best news we've had because Ashley and his advisors are happy with everything that Moat has in place and it's just down to Moat and Barclays getting an agreement regarding the overdraft. No other consortia, no other red herrings, one offer, one prospective new owner.

This is great news. It means that they are willing to give Moat a couple more days to buy the club. Therefore this is the clearest indication that he is going to sell to Moat

Doesn't matter really because we can still buy loan players after the deadline.

What's important is not to lose many more this week. Colo and Jonas may leave but the likes of Taylor, Smith and Enrique must stay.

True, but loans are usually young and inexperienced players - we have these already. Freebies are usually free for a reason.
