Is it officially summer, madras has changed his avatar.

Would look even better if the title was photoshopped to 'what to look out for in summer' and the picture was of last season's transfer deals.

anyway......

now that the debt has been taken out the equation maybe nusc's idea could be re-thought. if 50,000 fans (and we do have them) put in £2,000 which in the grand scheme of things isn't that great a deal, that would provide the £100,000,000.

But then where does the funding to cover next year's debts and rebuild the team come from?

FYI we discussed this yesterday see post 1205 link below.

The debt hasn't been officially "removed" and since no one is addressing the cost base (mostly player wages) the sums of money needed just to stand still are huge.

Ashley must have some intelligence and business savvy as he made millions.  Yet the decisions made, back-tracking, uturns, contradictions just begqars belief - it's as if the club is run by Joey Deacon or he's had a rich man's bet to destroy us.

Know it sounds paranoid, but it'd the only thing which makes logical sense in terms of what could possibly be behind the comedy of errors that Ashley's reign has seen. No billionaire businessman can be this incompetent: it simply beggars belief.

Would he make a mockery of himself aswell though? I think he just has absolutely no clue on how to run a football club. He had a plan and didnt value Keegan high enough, paid the price and the past year has been hidden agendas, mainly involving him leaving and spending no money. Taking the club off the market in November was probably just to try and get abit of stability to keep the club in the Prem and keep its high value. I reckon he would have bolted this month even if we stayed up.

The longer this goes on, the more likely this scenario looks. We're a huge joke in close season through this email fiasco, and we pretty much had the piss taken out of us with the Joe Kinnear situation. We've got three weeks until the start of the season, no manager, no policy towards ingoing and outgoing transfers, and we haven't sent out ST Renewals. All the words post relegation about how they wanted Shearer etc are being completely contradicted by the actions (or lack of).

When Ashley bought the club he said "He was going to have some fun". Well at this minute in time he's either genuinely full of remorse or sitting pissing himself laughing with his cockney pals somewhere thinking up the next piece of humiliation he can thrust upon us.

If he has no interest in us, it would be in his best interests to sell the club as soon as possible. If he does not plan to inject the cash required to gain promotion our value will plummet even further, as he has now seen. The fact he turned down (allegedly) £200m last year which would have given him pretty much his money back is even more sickening and adds some substance to the theory he wants to ruin us.

It would seem he now just wants to get back what he can in some sort of damage limitation, and whilst I've dismissed it as codswallop, I'm starting to think he could take us in to administration, which would allow him to essentially sell anyone worth anything (promising youngsters included) and sell the club for a derisory amount, walking away with more money than we could hope to see in a lifetime. We'd then be left with a few weeks till the start of the season, no players, management and on -10 points.

If this happens he'll likely be fooled by some undercover NOTW reporter, where he'll brag royally how he ruined a once great club. It sounds like the plot of a far fetched film, but you never know...........................

Group declares move for Newcastle United

Jun 9 2009 by Adam Jupp

A FAR Eastern group has officially declared an interest in taking over Newcastle United.

The news comes a day after Toon owner Mike Ashley put the club up for sale for £100m and invited people to e-mail in with bids.

The organisation, which is based in Singapore, has already said it intends to keep Alan Shearer on as manager if the move is successful.

It has links with existing football businesses, including a current Premier League club, as well as banking, property and legal services.

A high-profile football figure has been recruited to spearhead the takeover attempt for the group, which was established in the 1980s.

Guest toonlass

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has had offers of £10, Oasis tickets and a Curly Wurly after inviting offers for the Tyneside outfit by e-mail. The Magpies have been given a £100m price tag.
