ponsaelius
It's a statue ffs, it's impossible to be a complete replica of the subject. Looks fine IMO, everyone knows who it is. Take a look at that Southampton one if you want to see a shite statue. Eh, 'it's a statue ffs'? It fails, imho obviously, to either impress technically or convey any feeling for the man himself, and a statue should have at least one of those attributes. Instead the sculptors limitations distract from the peice to the point that it makes people annoyed that this is what we have to imortlise Bobby. I think he deserved a damn sight better. As POOT said, art is subjective, so fair enough if people like it, great. But for me it's depressingly closer to your Southhampton or mackum statues than our Milburn or his Ipswitch efforts. Nar http://www.shoutingatco.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/ted-bates.jpg Still think this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Absolutely pissed myself when I first saw it. Stifler
Sainsbury's stores are asking for nominations for local charities. Each store has a stand with a postbox and nomination leaflets. Thought it would be a good idea to spread the info on behalf of the Sir Bobby Robson foundation (or other charities if you so wish) so that many of the stores sponsor them this year. You only have a week or so left to vote so if you live/work near a Sainsbury's then it would be nice if you could take your time out to fill in a dozen or so forms. Contact details for part which requests it (needed to get in touch for the stores to get in touch with the charity) is 01912137235.

GoranBadlund
I remember the day. I was at music festival. I was drunk. Had no internet there but I a friend of mine had bought a newspaper. When he came to the sportpages he suddenly read it out loud for me. I had no idea. Came as a complete surprise. I ripped out the picture of Sir Bobby from the article and sticky taped it to my t-shirt, right on the heart and then walked around with it for the rest of the festival.
