Danh1
This is why I can never dislike Mourinho, a true apprentice turned master. He has so much respect for Bobby too,in Mourinho's book he says one of the most important things he learnt from Bobby was "just because you win doesn't mean your the best, and just because you lose doesn't make you the worst" I think he may have told a certain John Carver that losing makes you the best. Stottie
Sorry if this is common knowledge or Giggs, but the video of SBR and Mourinho got me thinking about how the latter got where he has and his wiki came up with Only weeks after being given the job at Benfica, Mourinho's mentor, Sir Bobby Robson, offered him the assistant manager's role at Newcastle United. Such was Robson's desperation for Mourinho to join him he offered to step down after two years in charge and hand over the reins to Mourinho. Mourinho turned the offer down and said he knew Robson would never step down at the club he loved. The source is Mourinho's biography.

ads
His speech at the sport personality of the year gets me everytime. Same. Tears every time. In 25 years following football I've never felt so emotionally attached to anyone in the game like Bobby. The game really misses him, so do we. Just a great, great man. Scotty66
Actually been thinking about using one of his quotes from that sport personality speech in my wedding speech. "Would like to thank my mother for bringing me in to this World.....thanks to my father as well as I'm sure he played his part in that too!"

Heron
Found out he passed on sat in the test centre before my driving test. Didn't think of anything but him during my test and passed first time. I thank Felling Mag for that, bit would rather he was alive (Sir Bobby) and I failed. God personified. A good player, a great manager, a superhero and a gentleman. <
Guest Howaythetoon
The best manager we've probably ever had. KK stands out more, and I adore KK, but SBR was the better manager. If only he had of replaced KK... I used to enjoy his pre and post match interviews as much as the actual game, he was a joy to listen to, honest, dignified, witty and hugely passionate. We become everyone's second fave team under him, well for a good number anyway, and that was down to him and not how we played or the players we had. Love him to bits and always will. Guest Howaythetoon
I've cried 3 times supporting NUFC, when Cole was sold, when Sir Bobby passed and when Speed passed. Cole being sold was tears of a then child, Sir Bobby was tears or mourning, as if he was a close family member.

Guest Howaythetoon
You cried when Cole was sold? I thought you were waaay older than that. 11 or 12 I think, I was a stroppy emotional kind of kid when growing up. It was more of an angry cry to be honest. A how dare we sell Cole, man. AHRRRRRRGHHH. Who am I kidding, I blubbed like Gazza against Germany!
