Still wasn't imo. “Honestly, I think I’m the best [English midfielder], Luka Modric and Samir Nasri are very good, but in terms of English players… well, Jack Wilshere isn’t bad, but Frank Lampard’s on the way down and Steven Gerrard’s been injured a lot. “I’m English and I love playing for my country. Maybe the people at the top have a problem with me – I don’t know – but the trouble I had was four years ago. They should be able to forgive me, shouldn’t they?” Aye, it's nowt like me giving you a ticking off or owt mate. I was just making the point that he said on form, which he was at the time for about 6 months. At the time he was playing better than a lot of players. Unlucky for him that that now means nothing. Would love it if he gets back and is told that his ban hasn't been served. I can understand peoples frustrations, but if someone finds a loophole in the laws, then you have to make new rules which close the loopholes. There is not much chance that they'll manage to do that before this saga is over, and there's no way they should retroactively punish him. Just have to let this one go I'm afraid boys. I was only joking about the ticking off mate..... I know he was in good form at that time but i thought he still gave the ball away far too much for my liking. And it was the short ten yard passes that he used to do it with. It drove me mad and i felt it was covered up a bit with his assists from set pieces. If he's only coming back for something like the 11th game why not just keep him and avoid being punished if the FA act? BBC Radio Lancashire reported that the 29-year-old England cap had been set to join the Cod Army on a six-month loan deal, which would speed up the time it would take to serve his 12-game ban. However, it is now thought that QPR have opted against loaning the midfielder to a League Two side. Barton said on Twitter: "Fleetwood adventure is over. I loved every minute of it. Great club." Why was 2011-12 Fleetwood's most successful season? Declared Blue Square Bet Premier champions with two games remaining and reached the third round of the FA Cup after knocking out Football League clubs Wycombe and Yeovil Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley said: "We're really disappointed not to have landed the loan deal." Had Barton joined the Cod Army he could have returned to action on 6 October or sooner. That would have been around six weeks earlier than if he stayed at QPR, because lower league clubs play more league and early-round cup games than top-flight sides. And BBC Sport learned that the Football Association would not prevent the loan switch - so long as he did not return to QPR before they had played 12 games. Barton agreed to join the Football League newcomers for a week during pre-season, but was not expected to play a match. But he went on to play 45 minutes of their friendly with Kilmarnock at the end of July. He knows several Fleetwood players from his younger days and has a close friendship with Cod Army forward Andy Mangan. Barton was sent off on the final day of last season as QPR lost at Manchester City and was later found guilty of two counts of violent conduct by the Football Association. The midfielder was initially shown a red card for an off-the-ball clash with City striker Carlos Tevez, and incidents with Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany came after Barton had been dismissed. He received a four-match ban for the foul on Tevez and another eight for his further offences.
