Village Idiot
Incidentally, now that we are on the subject of Cole, please humour me. Why was he sold? I have always wondered what brought that transfer.
Ronaldo
Ultimately he wasn't part of Keegan's long-term vision for NUFC.
CaliMag
Keegan had no long term vision. He thought season to season. Cole would not head a ball to save his life. KK was told to sell some players before he could start spending again. AC recorded a rap song and thought he was all that and a side of chips... and that was that. KK was right incidentally. Cole won stuff with ManU but was not as good as he was when he played for us.
Ronaldo
Cole didn't record that rap song till 99, 4 years after leaving us. As for KK being right, we weren't ever really that entertaining again after Cole's departure. Had Cole lined up in a team with Ginola and Gillespie on the wings, he's have easily emulated his 41 goals in 93-94.
Yorkie
Think we got away with selling him, like.

Cronky
Didn't Cole have on-off injury problems with his shins at the time? I think Keegan may have reckoned that £6 million was a good price for a player whose fitness seemed dubious. Plus he really rated Keith Gillespie. If he hadn't come in part exchange, I doubt whether the deal would have gone through. You have to say it was a good move. Ferdinand replaced Cole and the team moved forward. gdm
I'm sure keegan has stated he wanted Gillespie and man utd wanted Cole in return

Shearergol
Best is pretty good in the championship. Lazy with bad attitude...occasionally good but more often than not, anonymous. And i've definitely seen him more than you. I'm sure you have. I was basing that purely on 3 televised games this season and his goals tally in a bad team. He was awful against Scunny tbh, so not sure why you're basing your opinion on that game.

LooneyToonArmy
Hughton looking at loan signings Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is likely to make use of the loan system as well as permanent signings as he continues to strengthen his squad. The Championship leaders finally landed Manchester United full-back Danny Simpson on Wednesday evening, and are hoping to push through a move for Portsmouth defender Mike Williamson after having a bid understood to be in the region of £1million accepted. But having seen his efforts to lure Leeds frontman Jermaine Beckford to St James' Park come to nothing, Hughton is also targeting a striker and has not ruled out a return for Aston Villa's Marlon Harewood, whose initial loan spell on Tyneside ended on Boxing Day. Asked if he is looking at loan or permanent signings, he said: "Both. It's about the player. "If there's a loan that presents itself to us that we feel is a good option for us, then of course we are very, very open to that one. "As we have found already, the majority of deals that will be done in this window will be loan signings. But we are very open for both, very." Ashley17
Wouldn't touch Hulse, doesn't score enough for me, and he's 31 in October. Kris Commons, however, would be useful if he can find his old form.
