Remember watching Rothen for Monaco in the season they got into the CL final and he was suberb, looked excellant and seemed like he was destined to move on to bigger things, eventually he signed for PSG and it seems to have gone downhil from their. My Rangers supporting mate reckons he's crap too.

Thought he was meant to be going back to the smogs when the window opened?

he was but st.ledger changed his mind due to not liking strachen, he went there because of southgate and thought he could learn a lot from him apparently

aye, excellent for Monaco and  I also remember him when he played against us in the waffa/intertoto cup for Troyes and he looked canny then. Excellent crosser of the ball.....but that was then (ie:5 years plus ago).

ASTON VILLA have offered striker Marlon Harewood to Newcastle for a cut-price £1.5million.

Harewood, 31, scored five goals during a loan spell at St James' Park but was sent back when Villa demanded a loan fee on top of the £28,000-a-week wages they were paying.

Villa acted after realising Magpies were chasing Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford instead of going for their man.

They have pitched the asking price at the same level as Beckford's current worth in the hope Newcastle will pick the experienced Harewood instead.

Hull are also monitoring the forward's situation but have yet to make a formal bid.
